"There is precedent for the invalidation of such results. In 2005, the bureau of the Fifa World Cup organising committee reached a decision to invalidate the result of a World Cup qualification match between Uzbekistan and Bahrain on the basis of a 'technical error by the referee of the match''. BBC

Does anyone here know the regulations for the Premier League? It seems like the above was specific to the 2006 World Cup.

Can we take it to FIFA? Before anyone laughs, similar to my previous thread I don't want us to let this go and be too nice and polite about it. We have waited years to be in with a shout of European football, I hope put and keep pressure on whoever necessary to get a satisfactory outcome.

Can you imagine every time a club has a decision that doesn’t go in their favour in a single match taking legal action?

This was apparently a 1:9000 chance so I cant see it happening for other clubs !

Not sure, but apparently Hawkeye was not turn on for the first half?

If we don’t get into Europe because of this I would suggest that United would have grounds to sue for neglect. They are paid millions to run this for the Premier League!

No var so I say it’s void too I’ll get on the train with sean bean
Wasn’t one decision of var and the one decision he had to make was shit, he going on his watch, hope he not a deep sea diver

Come on. This one is clear cut ffs. I'm not advocating suing folk but this one is a right laugh
Agree it’s clear cut. But there are plenty of examples where a team has been wronged in a single game but taking legal action for it would be laughable. I’m more annoyed that the VAR referee (who had the power to intervene) didn’t have the bollocks to do so. What the fuck was he doing? Why didn’t he at least halt play and take a look? Had he gone for his half time piss early?

Like it or not it’s a wrong that will never be put right. Regardless of whether it’s unprecedented or not there are plenty of unjust moments in games of football.... sadly we have more than our fair share

Are there plenty of examples where a team has been wronged because two forms of technology have unquestionably failed? The same technology which was brought in to combat such claims?

This is big business and hawkey are a private company paid Millions to get it right, I bet someone would sue us if we lost them £millions! Or maybe let them off for this little mistake so they can do it again later!

Let it go.
I certainly don't want Utd to go down the Legal route again we are better than that, I don't think we would make many Friends if we did. It's a mistake a big one admittedly but its history now.
Dust ourselves down and we go again, Europe is still in our hands.
I hope the Premier League have a big word with the bosses at Hawkeye because that explanation they put out was total bollocks.
At least Arsenal are losing.

Europe over friends any day.

Not having a go mate but do you think Uzbekistan should have just let it go? Or countless athletes who have had to fight for medals that are deservedly theirs after their competitors were caught doping?

We can't be too nice.

It is what it is. It stinks, but I think that when you consider that China hasn't, as yet, had to be accountable for distributing a virus killing thousands of people across the world, I don't think we'll be likely to kick of in a legal way over a goal.

For the record, I think McCabe was right to pursue the money to the death; its just a shame we wasted it on a lot of expensive players who largely underachieved (Beattie aside).

This one doesn't bother me as much as some of the other travesties this season, the disallowed goal at Spurs for example.
A well worked goal disallowed for god knows what compared to a blunder between 2 opposition players in a game where we didn't really turn up.
I can't get excited about this one.
