No great loss, not seen anything in him personally. Woodburn/Duffy in his place, Coutts returning hopefully.

Evans' big plus is that he has potential. Potential, that is, to keep Lundstram out of the team.

Maybe Wigan just made an offer we couldn't refuse to get a player that was with them last season back.

Maybe the players hate each other and he wants out.

Personally I think it leaves us a bit short but it's not a big name gone if he's going. Him and Lundstram are equally hot and cold to me, both Diet Coutts, though Evans has a better shot on him when he doesn't fall over his feet, but Evans finished strong last season.

It's all a bit weird though.

it was his quote not mine, there is no player that can improve the squad we have exhausted all possiblies which I find difficult to believe. considering the players that other championship clubs have signed & clarkes performances where to say he's gone off boil since turn of the year is an understatement

There is no player that can improve the squad doesnt that make it plain Wilder was not interested in him
Hes scored goals for Accrington and hardly been a success at Rangers

As long as we get our money back we can live without Evans. They loved him last season and have just sold max power

Evans played half decent but not great in the latter of last season, he is the only play we have thats anywhere near Coutts (None of them are close) but to sell, really given time he can score goals we've seen it. To sell him and keep Lundwank is crazy, I'm so shocked.

So we're selling one of our "best" midfielders on deadline day and nobody in?

Sure wilder said he started the best possopos team on Tuesday

The man in your photo on the left is surely a factor. Once fit you'd imagine that Fleck and Coutts will be back as the central two with Duffy, Woodburn, or a new attacking mid above them, possibly Lundstram or Leonard, if Wilder persists with a more defensive three. Which leaves two out of Evans, Lunny, or Leonard on the bench and you've also got Bash who can play there - if we change formation like we di in the second half against Boro. Just too many of a similar type I guess. That and the fact Wigan are obviously very keen and maybe Evans is too with our start and Wigan's this season!

As much as I love Coutts, it's a gamble to think he'll be back playing at the same level. I'm not a big detractor of either Leonard or Lundstram but, in my mind, Evans was comfortably the best of the three. My top three midfield right now would be Duffy, Fleck and Evans. So I still don't understand this. Even if we get a decent wedge it's not like it seems Wilder gets to keep that much of it.

On the plus side, at least there'll be at least one change to the starting line-up on Sat.

I really think people need to lower their expectations of the impact Coutts will have when he returns. Having suffered such a horrific injury (almost identical to mine a number of years ago) and not played at all for almost 12 months, anyone that thinks he's going to immediately return the same player as he was in the first part of last season is going to be in for a huge disappointment. Remembering what he was liked when he first signed when he was getting over another serious injury and ended up on the transfer list and on his way out of the club will be closer to the mark unfortunately. I'm convinced it will take him the best part of this season to return to anything like he was in terms of fitness, mentality and form.

In Wilder We Tr...y to understand? That’ll have to do.

Didn’t see this coming, and he has frustrated me a lot in the months since he signed, alongside being excellent away at Norwich, and having that sensational finish against Middlesbrough.

Could be a number of reasons. Perhaps he simply isn’t enjoying his football as much as he was at Wigan, so fancied the move back there? Or perhaps Coutts’s return, or an imminent shift in formation, makes him less needed and Wigan’s offer is a genuinely good one for someone we don’t consider vital to the XI.

January’s window doesn’t make good viewing though:
Wilson – failure
Holmes – loaned
Evans – on his way
Leonard – still here, but not in the team.

It’s a very Warnocky move to sign players and ditch them within a year.

True that Coutts might not be the same but I just can't see that we need 8 players for 3 positions.

Fleck, Coutts, Duffy, Woodburn (might play as a second forward I know), Leonard, Lundstram, Evans, Basham can play there too and did on Tuesday.

Its likely that Wilder wants another attacking mid on loan as well - based on his previous interviews. I don't see Evans as being worth keeping onto if he was the one that was allowed to go because Wigan came in for him. I guess had interest only being for Leonard or Lunny that its possible either of those two could have gone instead, based on how they've played or how little they've played. For me Evans would be the one to go but that's just my preference.

Evans and Lundstram starting together has been a major factor in the first two defeats.

This should now free us back up to do this:

Henderson
Basham - Egan - JOC
Baldock - Lundstram - Fleck - Stevens
Duffy/Woodburn
Statue - New Statue with a bit more skill
Much more balance

With all the outgoing so we might not fill the bench
