Seems to show how everyone is really studying form before they decide?

If Wigan get anything today, that'll thin the field a bit.

I can't bring myself to back us and certainly not the oinkers. This week I really fancied Posh and Rochdale, but couldn't choose either, because a win for them affects us. If I'd gone for Rochdale, I'd be through already.

Conversely, a win for Derby might put them closer to the top six and anything that damages the grunters' chances is fine by me.

That's my overthinking of it anyway.

That's like a Bergen Blade analysis without pics.

I'm going to chuck Man Utd, Plymouth and Derby in my most hated team threads, fuck knows why.:)

Down to the last two. Slug and coolhandluke both battling it out for the £145 prize.

Just to recap on the rules applicable for this weeks selections. If both people don't select winners in Week 5, then they both get to pick again for Week 6.

Fixtures valid are any League 1 or League 2 games to be played on Sat 7th/Sun 8th Jan.

Many Thanks

Brownie

I would be. Let's not be giving 50% of the pot every time though. That's very steep for a regular game.

The percentage is not really relevant, it's surely about helping cover the running costs of the site. I've no idea what the running costs are but if this goes towards it, or gets anywhere near, then who would argue if they won £50 for their tenner or £100 ?

I'm with moDtheGod on this, one of these comps can go on for months and to only come out of it with £50 or £100 or whatever seems like a lot of hard work. I think it should be shared out as such: 20% to foxy and linz, 10% to Brownie for doing it and 70% to the winner, for me this would be better. I think it's open for discussion either way and whoever the winner is might ask to donate a bit of their winnings anyway depending on their own circumstances of course.

Personally just took part for a laugh and to support the forum, wasn't fussed about winning owt (though I understand the winnings do add some needed spice).

Perhaps the percentages could be amended if people are up for making it a much more regular / constant thing (ie: as soon as this ends we go again), as this would mean regular upkeep money. Would depend on the uptake I suppose?

I mainly did it for the laugh also but winning something sizeable adds to the banter stakes. The percentages can be discussed but I will be in no matter what, but from my experience of being in loads of these, a lot of people will only come in if there's a good pot to win, otherwise they can't be arsed.

No problem with all the above and yes, of course anyone winning could donate more if they so wish. I didn't personally enter because of the prize as such, it was just a fun way of donating and adding further interest over a weekend but as I say, the main object is to help cover the costs so that should be the start point.

A tenner is half what I put on that stupid lottery every week, so now and again I would fancy a flutter on this.

That's the way I see it too.

It was only when Derby let me down at the weekend and how disappointed I was to be out of the competition that I realised how much I'd enjoyed it and how much more notice I'd taken of football form over the last few weeks.

Yep count me in. (Love the new avatar. great wind up:D).

That was my point, really. Since it was a one-off for a good cause I had zero problem with a 50% rake. I wouldn't have played if I did. But if you make it a constant, on-going thing then there's no need to rake it so heavily as it's a regular source of funds for the forum and it makes for a kitty worth winning (which attracts participants and therefore keeps the game/constant funding alive).
