Kyle Walker

Time's past on this one. He should have signed for us when we last got promoted.

He has said this sort of thing too often but chosen to do different.
He will carry on doing different whilst ever another option/salary is better for him.

By the time he 'really' wants to come to us he won't have a better option and we will have to think very carefully whether we want him or not. However a back 3 of Walker, Tanganga, big bastard new signing with Seriki and Burrows pushing on would be a string looking back 5

Fuck him. Sick of this dance every time the clocks go forward when he's looking for a new contract.
He's contracted at Burnley until 2027. They paid a decent fee (up to £5m) for a 35 year old to sign him so they're not going to let him walk away.

With all due respect, a few people have said/suggested this on the thread, but what's wrong with that really?

Were I a footballer, I'd love to play for United, but I wouldn't necessarily do so if another club of comparable size/status offered me more money.

As Roy Keane said (in a different context) "it's his job" - plenty of people would take a higher paid job than a lower paid one, plenty would have other considerations. Horses for courses and all that.

I'd love him back, as he'd be a fantastic player still at our level, but I can't see Burnley letting him go.

Not sure I get the people bemoaning him wanting to maximise the amount of money he can make- especially this late on in his career.

Whilst it's true that he will have earned more money than any of us could dream of, I'm sure he also has outgoings that would make many of us wince.

I'm not implying that he couldn't afford the dramatic wage cut he'd need to take to sign for us- but I don't begrudge someone wanting to make the most out of a short career.

Kyle Walker would be useful as a right back, but also a defensive coach, an ex-world-class player.
He would be a good defensive coach. Also, Billy Sharp has an attacking coach. I would get Jags as a coach as well.

I doubt anyone will give them a fee for a player that old. And they might want to lower the wage bill.

Saudi calling?

Not to be hyperbolic, but I'm not sure he's better than Seriki anymore. He fell off a cliff ever since he started to lose his pace which was always his standout attribute.
Could still be a serviceable player in the Championship, but anyone expecting a difference maker is setting themselves up for disappointment.

Now or never isn’t it? He goes abroad for 2 years then at 38 he’s useless, if we go up next season at 37 he wouldn’t be good enough in the prem. Signing now and playing in championship as captain next season with us is actually the last possible opportunity where he can come back and be a key player. What a waste of time this season has been for him.

Maybe with hindsight; but at the time he would have taken the first-choice Premier League position as he would have hoped to be able to make the World Cup squad. He was also walking into, at the time, 4/5 of the best defence ever seen in the second tier and would probably have expected them to do better in the top flight.

It's a no from me, but if he's aching to play for us again Offer him £5k a week for one year, if he's desperate he'll sign, if not he can go to Saudi

The interview with Gary Neville was brilliant. Two of England's best ever right backs really getting on with each other and respecting each other's opinions.

A lot of the publicity around Kyle's private life has portrayed him as a thick, dirty slob - but he came across as thoughtful, wise and articulate.

Towards the end Neville said - so you've got another year at Burnley, a 2-year contract at Sheff United and then what - Walker loved it. Hopefully, with Burnley going down his reduced contract would be worth us going for it sooner. Asked what his proudest moment in football was - a guy with 19 major honours - he said playing for Sheffield United!

If he came to us next season, I think we should go 3 at the back - Bindon - Tanganga - Walker. With Burrows and Seriki as wing-backs and with Brooksy running free in front of Seriki and Walker who were taking it in turns to overlap him - wow!

UTB & FTP!

Wouldn't want him back after the way he left. All good him saying he wants to return etc but for me it's a no. We don't want you or need you!

He could be a decent mentor to Seriki, but not sure about his coaching ability. Seems to me he relied on his pace to get him out of trouble when he made a mistake or got caught out of position. Same with Jags to a lesser extent but he might be a better coach than Walker.

If he was ever serious about coming here he wouldnt have signed for Burnley till 2027. Who are heading to the same division we are in.

Dean hammond to drive the coach

Santi Cazorla...remember him? Also played at levels Walker has reached (including actually winning the Euros) Went home to Real Oviedo where he offered to sign for nothing but the employment laws wouldn't allow it...
Would "our Kyle" do this...?
