Kyle Walker

If he was going to sign for us out of ‘love for the club’ it would be now rather than signing for a team with a strong chance of being relegated. He’s all about the money that’s pretty obvious
Not sure it is obvious, he wants to play at the top level for as long as possible. If he was about the money he’d surely sit out his contract at city

Kyle no longer fits our signing profile. He's too old, would cost too much and it's more than a bit desperate to be harping on about a kid who left us, became a superstar and is still capable of playing in the PL.

We utterly stank the place out, twice. Embarrassingly, laughably so. The gap between what we were/ are and what he is, is beyond huge.

Of course he spoke well of us, but it's just words.

Move on folks. He isn't coming back here.

Morning

Win at your boyhood team in a lesser league in your final couple of years of your career - maybe even get a promotion or play for Burnley with the expectancy of being the underdogs in most games.

I get your point completely, he just shouldn’t have made this big press thing about wanting to finish here. If he wanted to he would have

He still can. Listening to his podcast a few months ago, he said he still feels he has a few years left and he makes a big thing about reaching his hundred for England

Wanting to come back and coming back don’t always match up with timing. Money will be a factor for him, the club and his current club. Don’t forget he’s contracted to Man City so they also want a fee

Perhaps Selles sees priorities elsewhere. Perhaps the owners do. We know Kyle has never played in the Bulgarian league so perhaps they don’t have any data on him

I’ve said it before Walker speaks with forked tongue, it’s absolute rubbish that he wants to play for the Blades he’ll go to wherever suits Kyle Walker. Don’t hold him up as a massive Blade, I just don’t believe he is , he’s a bloke that is playing all sides to keep his options open knowing he has family in Sheffield and one day he may come back to watch us. Being associated with Sheffield United suits him and his persona but it’s all one sided. From the outside it looks like he’s had a lot of opportunities to come back, he doesn’t need the money but he’s chosen not to.

He’s said it many times unprompted. He’s reached two major finals with England, he’s won’t the Champions League and every other trophy going in England. He’s played for AC Milan… he certainly doesn’t need to come back and play for Sheffield United for his career. He also doesn’t need to be associated with us to suit his persona.

I'm baffled as to why he's off to Burnley. A more established prem side would be the better choice, surely? He still has top 6 ability. A marquee signing for them - fair play.

Maybe persona isn’t the right word but all this local lad done good still a Blade, working class down to earth , massive Blade etc etc. Now that’s up to him, it’s his money and career but don’t hold him up as some massive Blade that’s desperate to come back at his own personal expense …I can tell you now that won’t happen. There’s players who have taken pay cuts and genuinely have chosen us when perhaps they were advised to go elsewhere that get a tougher time on here so let’s tone it down a bit when it comes to Kyle Walker ( btw yes it doesn’t take away from the fact that he probably was the best right back in the world at one point)

There's probably the World Cup to consider. Much more likely to play, and prove his worth/fitness, at a Minnow in the big pond, as opposed to a bigger club + It's even more unlikely that he'll be in contention if he's playing in the Championship.

I think playing in the premier league is the key, keeps him in the England fold, Glttl, but this ship has now sailed for us, blade or not It'll be a good feeling as we (hopefully) pass them on the way up

He's not good enough for Burnley never mind a top 6 side ..
As said his game was mainly based on his speed & that's gone
He's spent 90% of his career on a winning side , be funny to see him exposed next season & on the end of defeats most weeks ...
I dont give a monkeys if he plays for us or not , but surely a move to us would have seen him more competitive with a chance of going up with his so called " boyhood club "

Getting skinned every week for the third or second bottom side shouldn't keep him in the England fold, his only hope is Tuchel being a dinosaur who hangs onto has beens like Jordan Henderson (so to be fair he has a chance)

I get the feeling from listening to him and the way he acts on the pitch that he’s very down to earth and has a lot of love for the blades. Whether it happens only time will tell. If the deal can’t be done personally between him and the club to give him a decent wage, I don’t think this reflects on him

For me, he’s said that he wants to end his career at the lane but it’s extremely simplistic to suggest that he’s going to come for a salary which isn’t commensurate of his experience. The club have to make the offer attractive. What he would bring to the club is almost unmatched in the modern game.

Right now he’s looking to have taken a move to Burnley to keep in the premier league, probably remain in Manchester area and hopefully get his 100 caps and go to the World Cup.

If it happens after then I think it’s a great move for us but lots of things need to fall into place

I sincerely hope that he doesn’t come back, not because I don’t like him but because with each passing year he (like us all, to be fair) gets older and the value he could bring to the team diminishes. We need to be looking forwards and planning for the future, not being sentimental about someone whose best playing days were at other clubs anyway.

I guess he's more content to put his own self interests ahead of the club he (supposedly) supports. I'm not sure I'd do the same if I was in his position, but who knows, it's his career to do as he sees fit.
Can't help but feel disappointed with him... Burnley... really! I always thought he'd have a part to play with us but doesn't look likely now.

What’s Lionel Richie got to do with Burnley? Bizarre video for a bizarre choice of club to sign for. He probably had a couple of decent seasons left in him at Championship level, but I’d like to think the ship has now sailed for him coming back to us.
