10% of any fee...that's unusual, isn't it?

I thought it was usually 10% of any profit. Isn't that how Spurs avoided paying us anything when they sold Kyle Naughton to Swansea? Didn't they claim that they didn't make a profit on the deal so they didn't owe us anything?

Wonder how they'll avoid paying us anything as part of the Kyle Walker sale...
Trust me, they will - their chairman could cut a fart in two

From what i remember, Levy shot himself in the foot with the the Naughton Transfer. He claimed of the £7m combined they paid, it was split £5m Naughton and £2m Walker... so when they sold Naughton to Swansea for £5m, there was no profit, so didn't have to pay us our percentage.

Don't quote me on the exact figures, but it was something along those lines.

I keep hearing that the transfer fee for Kyle Walker is still “undisclosed” but it isn’t.
Kevin McCabe disclosed the exact fee at a Fans Forum in July 2009.
Here is an extract from the S24SU transcript taken by Foxy/Linz at the time:-

KMc: Well, the actual split is £6 million and £4 million. With £3 million for Kyle.W guaranteed with one on appearances and £5 million for Kyle.N guaranteed and £1 million on appearances.

This also tallies with the figure for Naughton you mention as he didn’t make many Spurs appearances.
So we can say with a great deal of certainty that the fee Spurs paid us for Kyle Walker was £4M.
If they sell him for £40M and we get 10% of that, our cut should be £3.6M.

If that was the case, wouldn't Levy say that the fee for Naughton was nil and the fee for Walker was £7m? Still no profit on Naughton (so no sell-on fee) and reducing the potential sell on for Walker in one fell swoop.

Sothall_Blade has found the facts though - looks like we'll get 10% of everything above £4m.

If the fee for Naughton was said to be nil, then the profit in selling him to Swansea for £5mill would be £5mill, wouldn't it???

No because we sold him for say £5m and then Spurs would've sold him for nothing meaning Spurs made nothing from the sale of Naughton, meaning no profit for Spurs. Hope that makes sense mate.

Be somewhat difficult to explain how 40 plus mill dosen't contain a very, very healthy profit.

It will all be in the contract details ....... remember how good our Board are at contracts / negotiations :eek:o_Oo_O

You will probably find that in the small print we agreed that the sell-on clause only applies if Barrow-in-Furniss is the capital of England ........

UTB & FTP

Or it only applies if we buy him back from them ourselves ;)

The deal is dead in the water

Spurs want £50 million
Man City are not paying more than £40 million

We all know that you should never pay more than you think somebody is worth

If Daniel Levy wanted 70m he'd get it.

He just seems to have the ability to get max value from any sale.

After a couple of hours of talks 'dead in the water' sounds a bit premature

Was told that the sell-on was 10%, but this reduced over time and now is half that.

Not saying you're wrong mate but how the fuck can anyone say your sell on clause will lower over time?

I've never heard that one before but seen as though Levy is involved it might not be such a ridiculous suggestion. :)

You're right it is ridiculous
A young kid with a bright future and the sell on clause disappears over time as he gets more and more valuable

Not even United could be that stupid in the transfer market

Think we would do well to try and conclude some of our transfer business before this sale goes through.

If clubs know we are looking at an extra £4-£5m coming our way i'm sure prices will jump a few £'000k. Probably negating a good few days of negotiations.

Spuds could be looking at a part exchange involving Kelechi Iheanacho, who was subject to a £20m bid by Leicester last year. Does this mean our percentage would go down?

yup it will be spurs way of getting round it they will inflate the price paid for Iheanacho so the money given for Walker will be around £15 million meaning we only get 10% on the profit made on the money part of the deal so 10% of £13million and not the full £40 million

If they've not got a way of getting out of it altogether, then something like this is guaranteed to happen. Bastards.

Last i've heard is that Iheanacho is on the verge of completing his move to Leicester?
