Oooo, I don't like this. I'm used to the viewing angle from the current arrangement. It won't look right from further back...

The good thing about the south being done is it wouldn't affect us lot already on the south, if anything it'd improve it at the back, more sky on the view if the roof is higher up.

I imagine the view from an imaginary SSUT would be like the camera position at Ashton Gate, it'll look like ISS Pro 98 haha

I knocked up a quick scheme for a redeveloped kop under Adkins, it had the seats facing Shoreham Street.

Our Kop has easily the worse facilities in the ground and from a fans point of view is the number 1 priority.

However the landscape has changed in recent years. It’s now all about money making corporate facilities and impressing VIP visitors.
So I believe the clubs number 1 priority is the South stand, the motivation isn’t to increase capacity, it’s to impress visitors.

Imagine arriving in the underground private car park, catching a lift to arrive in a state of the art media centre or luxurious corporate facilities with fantastic views of the ground. This type of stuff impresses potential buyers, the media team and journalists, potential managers and players. The current fashion seems to be the face of the club needs to be impressive, the more impressive the better.

The Kop will be relatively cheap to build but McCabe did say that there are surprisingly big savings if the 2 building projects are done at the same time. So he inferred both might be done together and capacity would hardly be affected because the stands are being built behind the current stands, similar to what Liverpool did last year.

I think this "impressing corporate types" stuff is utter bollocks! "Impressive views of the ground" my arse! What about the people who've been on the kop, decade in decade out, have shovelled loads of cash into the club, and who put up with pretty crap facilities? I love the kop, but to spend money on impressing corporate twats above improving the kop is total crap.

I think I can write as someone who has sat all over our ground since in went all seater - numerous times in numerous stands.

Both me (6' 2") and my nipper (6' 4") cannot under any circumstances sit on the kop seats comfortably. Comfortably being the really really important word, when a company (Sheff Utd) is providing a service (ie: a seat to primarily sit on) that someone has to PAY for.

We sit very comfortably at present on row HH of South stand. Absolutely zero problem with anyone in front and plenty of leg room.

We had at one time when the nipper was under 16, season tickets on 2nd back row of John Street. Again, no problem with viewing lines, but the sun can be a twat at times.

Before settling on South Stand about 5//6years ago we went all over Westfield and a few times on BLUT - again no problem.

For the millionth time the kop seats are absolutely fucking useless for people of our height.

I cannot sit in the seat with my legs straight out in front of me. They have to be slightly to one side, therefore impacting on whoever is next to me.

Profit's not the most important thing. Certainly not when you're rolling in PL money every season.

What would you rather spend £20m on? One player or something that's a permanent, massively significant addition to the club and its identity? What better thing to spend money on than your own stadium? What defines a club more?

The Kop would be brilliant, so the stadium would be brilliant. It would be something to be proud of. The atmosphere would improve.

It could ultimately be profitable by helping build our reputation and establishing us as a top level club. It would be a selling point to players, managers and investors alike.

And I'd gladly volunteer to give up my season ticket for 2 seasons during construction if needs be.

Thats what they told us when the cricket went.

As a slight aside , the kop when full looks brilliant ,it is I believe one of the largest single tier stands in the country, on Saturday when wilder was being interviewed on the pitch the kop looked great, full of fans singing from left to right ,it really did look impressive.

Why not put the kop back to all standing?
Everyone talks of "safe standing" but as a kid growing up on the kop I remember very few injuries sustained on the kop at BDTBL, or any other ground for that matter, up until the Hillsboro and hysel tragedies, a coupla heart attacks were about all other than the odd bruise and scrape. And both disasters could have easily been avoided.
The kop would then have I creased capacity, just needs the roof pillars removing and better facilities, cheaper option and louder kop. Win/win.

Tbh, just having a better modern Kop is what I’d like to see, but I do see the logic for a slight increase in capacity too. Given the restrictions put in place on where people can sit for sellout games where some areas are always netted off, we’re not even making the most of our current capacity.

I'm not as tall as that, and you're right the leg room on the Kop is terrible, shins digging in to the seat in front etc. Knock it down and start again, its a piece of shit.

I think the current plans are the best compromise and will make Bramall Lane one of the top grounds in the country.
