Absolute chaos trying to get a taxi home tonight.
Flagged one down who wanted to charge £30 for a journey that's usually £15-£17.
Told him to F off
Two hours later reluctantly agreed to pay another cabbie £20 up front as all out of any other options.

On a side note how fucking bad was the service for beer? People queuing well over an hour. PPP.

1 hour 55 for us. Is it still Compass?

2 people taking orders from several hundred in the Westfield Upper.

My mate said the same was happening a couple of weeks ago outside the Arena. City drivers quoting 4 times the usual price for a 2-3 mile journey even from telephone booked.

It's looking that way.:( He's on his way to the hospital right now so if it does comes out as another eye socket fracture it's probably over. Fuck Khan. He was saying pre fight on sky he had Kell's chances at 60/40 in favour to win just to put pressure on him and make him look bad if he lost. This despite backing Spence to win in every interview he'd done in the US. Oh how i'd love to see Kell put that glass jaw on his arse.

Khan is full weight. He's one of the very few British boxers I smile at when he loses.

Basically out to get what they could because the city was full of "tourists" needing to get back to their accommodation. Makes you proud to be a Sheffielder and sure to encourage them to come flocking back.
Couldn't help but think of the Manchester/Liverpool cabbies helping to get people home earlier in the week albeit in an emergency situation.

Bang on mate. I know it's the run up to Ramadan but at 3.30 there wasn't a cab to be had on West Street with literally shit loads of people about.

It was discussed on here saying match days bad enough let alone a 27k boxing crowd!

Should have just served bottles. Surprised they weren't pre poured pints. Was rather embarrassing explaining to non locals it's not as bad as this normally.

Ramadan has started so it will be having an affect on the number of cars available.

Always better to use the City app and register your credit card or Uber (not that i like Uber), find yourself a pub, wait it out and then when your taxi arrives you don't need to pay as its automatically taken by the app. Its also a record of your route so if the driver took a much longer route, than the most direct or somehow overcharged you, then you can give feedback and get your money back for the extra. I did this with Uber in Dubai.

Although saying all that, trying to get 25,000 fans home late at night is always going to be a logistical nightmare.

You can disguise a detonator as a wallet. Can't see them banning wallets.

Ban the use of e-cigs in the stadium by all means if it is seen as some kind of a threat or annoyance to others. But plenty of those drinking in the bars will be using them before and after the fight, and can't be expected to leave them at home and go without a nicotine hit all evening.

Banning the actual possession of them shows a lack of common sense, and could lead to problems. Some e-cigs cost more than a ticket to the fight, and I reckon many people won't be happy to have them confiscated, especially the "tougher" fans that are expected

There's no doubt about it is there? These e-cigarettes are an annoyance to others. They give off so much vapour that it's impossible not to be affected by them if you are within a few yards of someone using them. I think most people with a reasonable level of intelligence have already understood that e-cigarettes are not welcome everywhere and therefore they shouldn't be surprised if they are asked not to use them. I don't see why someone shouldn't be expected to go without a nicotine hit all evening. If it's that important to them they should buy some nicotine chewing gum. I suppose you think we should allow e-cigarettes on transatlantic flights as well then? Confiscating them though is another matter. I don't like the idea of confiscation. Not unless the people in possession have showed in some way that they are not fit to be trusted to be in possession. That's the legitimate and acceptable use of confiscation to me.

So disappointing for Kell.still been a true boxer, never dodged anyone. Ground looked great, but the sound system they used was shit. Could not understand a word anyone said. Also shockingly the bars could not cope, missed out on a shed load of money there.

Really? Did they use the same dumb-ass kids that serve on match days? If so, it's hardly surprising is it? I mean, it often takes 3 of them to serve one person and the one working the till can't start to serve the next person until the person being served has got their drink in their hand and is walking away from the counter. If we didn't handle the bar and catering very well then I wouldn't expect to see another title fight here in a hurry. This needs sorting out, not just for nights like last night, but for us, the football fans who go week in and week out and get fed up of the queues and the incompetent staff to the point where we think - sod it - I'll manage without.

great photo's those. Looks impressive. Such a pity the catering and sound system weren't up to scratch. I'm afraid Mr McCabe needs to sort this out or he won't be hosting any more.

A few logistical issues to sort out for next time I think but...my god, the old lady looked absolutely stunning with a ring on her finger...View attachment 27299 View attachment 27298

"Old Lady"? I thought that was how the Pigs liked to refer to the Rustbucket when courting other fans on social media.

It'll always be BDTBL to me though I may accept T'Lane. If we are looking for something new and reight foreign romantic like, we could call it La Madonna.

Not launching a branding campaign, just a figure of speech. :)

In fairness to the club the Stadiums own sound system bizarrely wasn't used (which on match days I usually complain is too loud). The only speakers used were ringside so there was no wonder no one could hear anything. As for the catering it's just bad planning on Matchroom's and the club's part. Surely they realise at events like that people will drink 5/6 times as much as at a match. However last night did make me appreciate the no drinks at seats rule in football even when the groves fight was on people were up and down constantly. Still good event for the club to have hosted. Not sure where Kell goes from here though would be nice to see Khan fight though just to shut them both up.

The catering service was an embarrassment.

I don't know which utter fuckwit decided to have them pouring from plastic bottles into plastic cups, or why, but surely they could have seen the time it was taking, used some initiative and just handed the bottles out?

Mind you, initiative and our catering staff don't exactly go hand in hand do they. They're bad enough on matchdays by all accounts, just why the fuck were they employed last night?
What the hell were they expecting? How couldn't they prepare adequate procedures?

And I could barely tell a word of what Michael Buffer was saying, in the South Stand. That was piss poor as well.

Atmosphere was disappointing. A bit like a cup final where a big crowd and supporters being scattered around kills it.

Such a shame for the fight to end like that. Maybe he could've won but for the eye, but Spence is very good. Like everybody else, I desperately want to see Kell fight Cunt Khan and beat him senseless, even if it has to be his last fight.

The acoustics was surely nothing to with United as they didn't use the ground's PA. As for the bar service, no idea what the organisers were thinking.

And for the record, I had Brook slightly ahead until the moment they showed his eye on the big screen, curtains....

Yeh gutted , he fought bravely was prob ahead up to 6th & gave it best in 10th but Spence from 7th onwards & best fighter won . I think he ran out of steam & now struggles to make welterweight and would need to go up a weight , if I'm honest I don't think he can box at the top level In that weight division with Pacquiao , Peterson & Thurman now so not sure what next for him as all the cash is at welterweight , maybe a pay day with Khan but I think would come unstuck against above .
As for all the piggy cunts celebrating his defeat it just shows what self centred bitter twats they are , he's a Sheffield lad whose done the city proud , they have short memories around Clinton Woods who always got got our backing .

i agreeing Bunce on 5live as i had him tied 5-5 in rds going into rd11. but that eye seemingly let him down again. i might be wrong but with a 2nd surgery planned on the eye, ive seen Brook final fight. plain to see Golovkin in hindsight was stupid decision as it finished his career as thats twice now he fought well until his eye lets him down. i cant see how he ever can get confidence back in it

also sat in laver stand 98-02, family stand last 14yrs & away end for boxing. need see game on kop & ive got bramall lane bingo :D

I thought the same but if they put a plate in (seem to recall Georges Santos had a plate put in during surgery when he had his eye socket bust) won't that support the eye socket and make it stronger???

Have to echo what everyone else has mentioned about the waiting time for the beer, the poor sound system and how great the Lane looked for a boxing match, from the JSS the BL end especially so. As for the journey home, thought I'd be in the same boat as some on here and was just contemplating an hour's walk home when the last bus to Halfway turned up :) Had to walk a bit from Intake to Handsworth but I was happy enough with that having avoided the long walk up City Road.

Our PA system is the best out of any ground I've been to, so why they didn't just use that is beyond me.

Wednesday's most recent equivalent to Brook is that tramp Dougie Naylor sparring on Real Football Factories.

Last seen in a coma.

Like, like and a thousand more likes, though I hate the fact I have to like posts like this.
This problem has been going on for YEARS.
How much profit has the club lost because of useless incompetence?
I don't blame the inexperienced, ill-trained youths that are used as a cheap option, I blame the management for not sorting it out.
I know the catering/refreshments used to be contracted out, but whether it still is or is now under the management of SUFC staff, someone needs replacing because they are clearly not doing their job.
If MUFC can deliver a slick operation with twice as many fans attending games, then so can we.
