How much profit has the club lost because of useless incompetence?

The money is in the contract really, not the sales on match day.

It's the concern of Compass making more money really, the club gets the money from the contract with them.

Ramadan has started so it will be having an affect on the number of cars available.

Always better to use the City app and register your credit card or Uber (not that i like Uber), find yourself a pub, wait it out and then when your taxi arrives you don't need to pay as its automatically taken by the app. Its also a record of your route so if the driver took a much longer route, than the most direct or somehow overcharged you, then you can give feedback and get your money back for the extra. I did this with Uber in Dubai.

Although saying all that, trying to get 25,000 fans home late at night is always going to be a logistical nightmare.

Sound advice normally and that's what I always do.
Tried the City Cars App constantly and it just kept saying "Fully Booked".
I've not seen that before.
Also tried ringing but nobody answering the phone.
Eventually at 3:30 someone did answer and said there were no taxis available, maybe try again in half an hour.
With hindsight, I should have tried earlier or gone for the last bus but I didn't realise how bad it was until too late.

Maybe they could run a few late trams when there's a big event on? Would free up some taxis at least.

Yeah i had a similar thing when i went to that (awful) tram lines a year or two ago. Uber were absolutely stacked out so i went on the surge and it would've cost me a fortune, so i ended up stumbling upon the youth club that is 'Tank' and get shit faced. The missus gave me a bollocking the next day saying it was a 'meat market'. Having frequented Roxy's, Royales, the Bradbury Club and Xanadu's in their prime i assured her that Tank was not a meat market

I walked onto London Road last night, saw that I was going to struggle to get a bus so looked at Uber... £27 - £35 for a journey that would normally cost around a fiver tops.

Ended up walking home instead, there were a few black cabs about half way home, but having got that far, figured it was pointless - I would probably have just been doing the same anyway having heard some of the prices they were trying!

1: The big issue that had a massive affect on catering was

The police ordered the catering staff, "no bottles could be served directly".
So all the plastic bottles had to be served into plastic glasses taking ages.
Some of the bar staff didn't even know how to pour the drinks so many were over frothy.
The choice as a customer was accept a glass 75% beer and 25% froth or wait a minute for the froth to die down causing her more delays.

It was a total farce really.
I was in the BLUT and the queue for bar was at least a 1 HOUR wait.
The wait was so long that those in the front of the queue were wisely ordering massive orders (20 beers plus) so that meant the queue hardly moved.

I was joking that last night I spent 2 hours in the bar and 1 hour watching boxing.
I wonder when the Police gave the order to serve beers in glasses because in those circumstances the bars ended up being seriously understaffed.

2: Couldnt hear the PA system and the tv screen at ringside were too small.
Not sure why the boxing couldn't use the SU PA system which is piped in to the stands
Also maybe it would have been better to use the club facilities, the big tv screen in the corner and the munerous tvs In the concourse areas.

3: Position of the ring
As the Kop wasn't in use then I expected the ring to be nearer the BL end not planted on the centre spot.

Still enjoyed the experience though and my partner loved it and would go again.
Was initially disappointed that Kell seemed to quit but in retrospect it was probably a very wise decision. His health and eye sight is more important than winning.

Compass seem to have lost direction last night ,they missed out on tens of thousands of pounds I reckon.

Might have been an optical illusion from my vantage point but if anything, the ring looked more in the Kop half of the pitch than the BL end.

It was a serious blunder.
I was stood waiting in the queue thinking "what a farce" and "surely there's a better system".
There was no "division of labour" and no organisation or apparent management.
The bar staff (bless em) were like rabitts caught in headlights.

Surely there should have been some staff just pouring loads of drinks, so they are all pre prepared.

I reckon that the staffing numbers were based on serving drinks in the plastic bottles
And the order by Police forcing them to pour drinks into plastic glasses was made on the night.

So maybe it was the Police that made Compass lose 10's of thousands.

Xana's and the Brad Club bring back some memories. Good and bad :oops:

Deffo the drunkest I've ever been in my life was when I suddenly understood the term 'blind drunk' whilst in the Brad club toilets (may have been Genesis by then).

The result of power drinking round Chezzie. I still have no idea how I managed to get the 10 miles home as I didnt have the ability see a taxi :p

Yeh I think you could be right.
Made no sense when the bulk of the watching customers were at the Bramall Lane end.

Have to say on the point of catering last night, I've been to a ridiculous amount of sporting events, gigs, festivals etc over the years like I'm sure many have on here, but last night was the most shambolic set up I've witnessed.

If the service wasn't bad enough, the choice on offer was utterly pitiful.

The menu of drinks was bottles of ale, lager or cider £4
White or red wine £5

There is a positive though............

The 1 hour+ wait in the queue for be served meant I saved loads of money.
Ended up being much cheaper than normal and I've not got an hangover either.

I thought they'd stopped doing surge now! Bloody hell that's steep

Then I would be staggered if the contract didn't have clauses in it where Compass can be fined/binned for consistent failure to provide acceptable service levels.
Surely it's in SUFC's interest to ensure that Compass deliver those acceptable service levels even though it wouldn't mean benefitting from the extra sales directly.
Every time I see the fiasco on big (and not so big) match days I feel like diving over the counter and sorting it out myself!
I'd LOVE to get hold of the job and make it work. Not as an independent contractor but by keeping it 'in house' and making the whole thing to the benefit of our beloved club.
Oh yeah, and for the supporters/fans/customers for which SUFC exists!!

That comment made me laugh because I often feel exactly the same.

The general pace of service is "jogging level", everything seems so sssllllooooooow but as the queues are so long they need more dynamic staff who are able to work much much quicker nearer "sprinting level".

Presty, can you do summat with that 1st photo, it's a stunner and I'd be 1st in the queue to buy one.

They're only phone snaps with a few Instagram filters so they're no use in print or anything. Feel free to use it for anything you want....

One particular experience summed it all up for me SS.
I was at the Spurs semi-final sell out with my dad.
I think I counted 10 serving stations all with beer pumps.
Only 6 were open and the queues were horrendous. THE GAME WAS SOLD OUT!!
When else would you need all 10 tills open?!
Me and dad would have supped a pint in the time it took to wait to be served.
By the time we got to pay, we should have been ordering our second!
Multiply that by several hundred and that's a lot of revenue lost and customers frustrated....again!
I can't even satisfy myself that at least some company chairman/shareholders are financially worse off for it.
I'm not that kind of person.
I am the kind of person that prides myself in doing a good job and appreciate it when other people do theirs.

Some reyt slags there last night. One of them was stood at top of South Stand Gangway F as the fight ended gobbing off and threatening people, even her old man was telling her to get out of there.

Even if United aren't directly responsible for the catering, it still reflects really badly on the club. I hope they look for an alternative provider, or better still, do it in house and provide better offerings.

My feet are killing this morning, walking two thirds of the way home (not by choice) was not the best way to end a Saturday night!

#SpiritofSheffieldCabbies
Absolute chaos trying to get a taxi home tonight.
Flagged one down who wanted to charge £30 for a journey that's usually £15-£17.
Told him to F off
Two hours later reluctantly agreed to pay another cabbie £20 up front as all out of any other options.

Even Chesterfield based ones were struggling, mine took 90 minutes to turn up pre booked, £40 to get to the Alfreton area though so not complaining as I saw some Chez lads ask a City taxi how much to get into Chez town centre and they were quoted £50, disgrace

And they were warm.

So it was the police who ordered them not to hand out bottles? I suppose we should've known - they're usually at the root of any retarded procedures and decisions surrounding matchday events.

Has anyone heard the actual reason? Are plastic bottles more harmful than plastic cups?

And yes, they will have cost the catering company thousands.

Exactly.

I personally can't see how Brook isn't the favourite for this, he's the belt holder and has fought some very good boxers, Spence has fought absolutely nobody. Brook all the way for me, he's proven.
Just goes to show that proven isn't always the winning route.

Over to you CW, sign who you like for me ;)
