Going to put this one back out there, he's scored 12 goals in a shite team this year

Not drawing any conclusions, but mildly interesting.
 
Read some rumours about WBA / Fulham wanting him if they go up. Did decent at Huddersfield in the premier league and is only 22.
 
Sign him up , scored 19 playing out wide a lot for a useless uddersfield.
Either him or Watkins

It's annoying but undoubtedly true that teams that are immeasurably worse than us (Villa) or have only just been promoted (Leeds) will be ahead of us for most signings, and will probably prove to be more attractive to a lot of players. I don't just mean monetarily either, we've still got a lot of preconceptions to shake off.

It’s a slow process, but we’re on our way. If we keep this up, we’ll be a very fashionable team within a few years, complete with top class facilities.

Oh I agree, I just think we're a bit back in the queue as it stands, what with Villa's megabucks and the whole Bielsa factor.
 
I didn't see Ollie Watkins last night, but from the Champs football I've seen this season I'd put Karlan Grant ahead of him for what we need.
 

For £15m, probably not as much competition as Watkins, I would like Grant. Plus their chairman knows 😉 'if a premier club comes in, we can't stop him'

For their rumoured prices I'd take Grant over Watkins every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Proved he can cut it in the premier league whereas Watkins would be another punt ino the unknown at a very high price.

All things being equal though I'd probably prefer to loan Brewster and save our cash to add some more creativity. No point having expensive strikers if they don't get any service.
 
Seen some highlights of him. Goal scoring figures look very good and he’s still very young. I would prefer to take a punt on Grant than Watkins who will probably cost £5 or 6m more.
 
Watkins is a better all round player than Grant. Grant is a striker who really only cares about the opposition half, he doesn't have experience with all the things we ask our forwards to do defensively.

Not saying we shouldn't sign him if we can (he's very good) , just that he might be a luxury we can't afford tactically 🤷‍♂️

He's played a lot from the left hasn't he? Surely he would have had to defend from there. Plus, tbf I'm not sure didsy or mcburnie were used to being asked to do as much defending before signing for us.

It's just not his game at all. His game is all about being direct towards goal once his team mates have got him the ball. After that he's not even up to Moose's level in terms of defensive stuff

Does moose even have the fitness to defend 😂 I remember him chasing after sanchez at spurs once and was knackered afterwards. Surely if grant was fit and CW wants him to, regardless of not being his game, he would do it. Not many forwards naturally want to defend really do they.

It's about understanding where and when to do it though. Callum Robinson is as enthusiastic as anyone and is one of the worst defensive forwards I've ever seen. Constantly having to be told where to be. When you have to defend as deep as we do at times you have to have a focal point who can harass defenders in the right way without leaving massive gaps for the oppositions good players to exploit.

Not saying we shouldn't sign Grant. But it would either mean we are changing how we defend a little bit or we think he's more than capable but hasn't been asked to
