When he was younger and with less experience, he thought he was too good to develop in the under 23s and potentially on loan if he signed a new contract.

What damascene conversion do you think he's had to change his view on his career? We paid his wages and had a plan for his development, he thought he knew better.
United found themselves in a very similar situation with Ndayie and United eventually backed down and gave him a decent contract. Supposedly, after Slav kicked off about it. Painting United as an angel in these situation denies the truth that like all football clubs we are happy to exploit as well as develop if we can get away with it.

The Lankshear affair is a whole sorry saga as well

Seemed a decent guy when YorkBlade interviewed him.

Has to be a little careful now. It’s like when you see someone who is a job hopper send in their cv. Difficult to build a team around people who have a history of jumping ship easily.

He left Brighton abruptly. Same with us. He’s the one jumping at Southend first too.

Wish him no harm but he could do with putting down roots for a few years somewhere.

I remember that differently. I remember that Illi wanted to play football, at the Lane or on loan, we said no until you sign a new contract, which he did, and then he played.

See this thread for lots of praise the club for digging their heels in:

Also lots of laughter at how excited the club was to the point of putting together a promo video for a young lad signing a new contract.

Sometimes the club knows what its doing.

I'd agree that is what happened but the point I was making was that United had to significantly enhance the contract offer before he signed.

With Lopata that point I was making, is that it isn't necessarily the player who is at fault with any club when they refuse to sign an offer and move on.

Sounds like he's off.. Again. He didn't seem to get much game time at Woking so maybe the reality will start sinking in and he'll find a mid table National League team to settle in, without throwing his toys out the pram after 5 minutes.

To think if he had stayed with us he would be playing L1 or L2 football by now or maybe even have got game time with us during our injury problems. The guy is 21 years old and still kicking around in non-league.

I hope he is leaving Woking because has secured an EFL club.

He's a decent lad, with a cunt of an agent
If by some miracle he proves himself as a League One clogger his agent will be touting him about
No way will he honour the 4 year contract
