Just think who we could of signed on a free if McCabe hadn't made so many mistakes when choosing the next United manager i.e since Warnock left

The lick at the bottom of the BBC page opens a PDF with all the PL names. There is quite a few players on that, at least 32 were released from the sides who were relegated this year. So stop looking at Swindon players, wasting all our cash on players who nearly got Swindon relegated or who bottled it in the PO final the year before and get to some good frees in

Interesting that Philiskirk is on that least. Have we not signed him yet?

Craddock Jody Darryl

Hahnemann Marcus Stephan

probably go to Champ teams but might be worth a go?

(Apologies - copy of a post I entered last week that is probably more relevant to this discussion!)

The PFA website is a fantastic resource for Football Manager-type dream teams at this time of year (notwithstanding the sadness most of the chaps on there face).

Current highlights include such luminaries as :

Jay Bothroyd
Jon Carew
Lee Bowyer
Sol Campbell
Pascal Chimbonda
Danny Gabbidon
Ricardo Gardner
Eidur Gudjohnson
Benny McCarthy
David Norris
Jon Pantsil
Kevin Phillips
Robert Pires
Nigel Reo-Coker
Ibrahima Sonko
Matthew Upson
Bolo Zenden

Former Blades :

Marcus Bent
Michael Brown
David Carney
Jean Calve
Claude Davis
Jonathan Fortune
Jon Harley
Vincent Pericard
Alan Quinn
Andy Reid
Kyel Reid
Marcel Seip
Danny Webber

And also realistic targets (maybe?!) such as :

Jason Brown (GK) at Blackburn
Ben Burgess
Stephen Caldwell
Lee Carsley
Hugo Colace
Pablo Counago
Christian Dailly
Daniel De Ridder (Wigan)
Martin Devaney
Matt Duke
Nathan Ellington
Jason Euell
Craig Fagan
Daryl Flahavan
Richard Garcia
Marlon Harewood
Richard Hinds (!!)
Richard Hughes
Martin Jiranek
Radostin Kishishev
Jason Koumas
Shefqi Kuqi
Kevin Lisbie
J Lloyd Samuel
Gavin Mahon
Michael Mcindoe
David Mirfin
Joe Murphy
Isaac Osbourne
Isiah Osbourne
Stuart Parnaby
Chris Porter
Paul Rachubka
Gavin Rae
James Scowcroft
Dennis Souza
Jonathan Spector
Ivan Sproule
Steven Thompson
Iain Turner (GK - Everton)
Gianni Zuiverloon

When you reads list like these, it makes you wonder what type of team the blades could have if things happend differently and if the club had looked after its money better. There seems to me more avaliable players this year from the PL and the majority of these will filter down into the Championship. Shame we are not there to pick them up.

Plus, quite a few of these will get a shock when no-one comes in for them with their current wages demands.

This pre-season will be the start of seasoned pro's having to realise they aren't worth what they first thought. When even average or below average Champ players feel they are worthy of £10k/wk you have to wonder how the PL old boys will find any club after being released!?

When you look at lists like these it makes you think that anyone could speculate over who we could have signed. If we hadn't been relegated from the Premier League, and if we'd attracted rich/stupid arabs and all that we'd have been spunking money away like my wife in a handbag shop.

The key word is "if".

Mirfin - ex Huddersfield and a Sheffield lad. Matt Duke?

Matt Duke

Would be a decent signing and realistic as well.

Mind you at the moment we are aiming to get the Swindon rejects it seems.

Good - let them feckin suffer the greedy b'tards

Samuel Eto'o summed football wages up for me, he said if he leaves Inter Milan, he would consider one of our top four teams, even though he,s on£185,000 a wk. If the challenge intrested him it's not about the money so he could drop 200 or 300'000 because that would'nt make a diffrence to him. What a hero ay???????
What world are they in?

Even in the championship we wouldn't of moved for one of the high profile names listed.

We would still be looking for the next mighty Ryan France.
