Interesting to note that Johns's preferred position is left-wing - pacy too. Also sounds like conversations on him signing began way in advance of Weir's arrival.

I meant to ask earlier, who do people think is the driving force behind these signings? Either Weir has acted very quickly or someone at the Club has lined them up for him.

Weir probably just flicked through his big book of contacts and was therefore able to snap these players up, where others would have failed.

For the young players, Nick Cox and Tony Walmsley will be the ones getting them in motion and John Stephenson will be looking for senior players too. Obviously, the manager has the final say for senior players in particular and will have his own targets, but there's a lot of leg-work done by the backroom staff that you rarely hear about.
