First thought when I heard it was that he's bound to score a crucial goal against us.

My first thought was that there was only one winner in that sale to Blackburn.

Danny obviously thought Ched was a better option to keep and 1 million for Slew enabled us to keep Ched.

That's a wonderful sounding theory but the truth is we didn't receive any offers for Ched in the Summer.
Possibly because he was injured, out of form, facing a court case/jail and on wages most clubs (including us) can't afford.
If we had received any offers, no doubt he would have been sold regardless of what Danny wanted to do.

Danny didn't want to sell Slew but the player/his agent wanted him to leave and United didn't try to keep him.
If we had kept him I dare say he would have contributed more than Porter and Beattie have. Certainly a different kind of option to those two.
Only time will tell if United were the only winner in the deal. 19 is a bit too young to be writing him off, don't you think?

Strong rumours slew point blank refused to sign for the pigs

Don't get me wrong, I thought it was too early to flog Slew, but given the option Ched was always the easier option because of his wages and to many worth getting shut. We were able to keep him in the summer and in Jan because we sold Slew.

Reality is that Slew hasn't pulled up any trees at Blackburn and we have 1 million in the bank now. Slew, with his pedigree hasn't generated the interest for a loan from the championship, where he could enhance his game (perhaps at one of the top 6) but instead finds himself in League 2 with a very physical team.

Good luck to the lad i say. Just hope he doesnt score against us.

Amazed he wasn't loaned out to a League 1 club within weeks of them signing him, strange decision to keep him out of action for so long. Maybe they thought their coaches could develop him further before he got more first team experience.

Jury's out but he's certainly the type of player we could do with at least coming off the bench.

So far in his Stevenage career he's played 3 and scored none.

in his most recent match on Tuesday night he was subbed after 62 minutes.

Not a promising start.

Given that the only club in our vacinity Stevenage have left to play are ourselves, I hope he's a complete and utter failure...

So far, it looks like his agent, Mark Rankine, gave him bad advice last Summer

The only place he will do well would be Millwall with Uncle Darius alongside him , just like Kilgallon cant hack it without Morgs holding his hand.

Not really. Surely the advice of an agent is to get more money for the player and for him to be playing in the PL. In that sense advice by Rankine was good.

Think you make a fair point there. I saw him a couple of times and to be honest he was very average. Didn't seem to have pace to burn, wasn't any good in the air and didn't inspire with the ball at his feet. Without a big lad alongside he almost seemed to hide.

As for Killer, I rated him highly when he came and thought he played well for us. But your point about having a bigger, stronger centre half alongside holds good. He's done nowt since. A promising career down the crapper again.

Always thought Killer would have made a better central midfielder.

Lets see if Slew will have a long and successful career. I think Rankine showed Slew the wrong path by going for big wages

Depends on the player. Walker didn't do his career any harm by moving to the premier league after 5 games, but then everybody could see hew was something special at championship level. Not sure Slew was to be honest, and i think he'd have certainly benefitted from a year playing at championship/league1 level.

Perhaps he's not doing so well at Stevenage as he thinks he's billy big premier league bollocks? He may also just need time to adjust after not playing any competetive games for a while.

It all depends on what the player's demands are. If the player tells his agent he wants as much money as he can get, then the agent will find a PL team at the first chance he can get. Plus, spending a year a Blackburn won't have damaged Slew bank account so doubt he will be too affected by not playing. It's too easy for fans to sit from the outside and say that a player has made the wrong choice. But would you, if you was a player, give up the chance to play in the PL or a pl team and get big mone? It would take a strong person nowadays with the current economic situation to say no, I want to stay as I may not be good enough. Think about your own job. If you get head hunted or there is a promotion at your work - are you going to say "no thanks. I don't think i'm good enough yet. I think I will stay in my current min wage job for a another year to learn my trade". That promotion may never come free again.

The other thing is Rankine may well have said, go and get the big money, and then if you do decide to drop down into the championship, you can command a higher wage, purely be dint of being a player from a premier league club. United will have offered him 3k? If he went to blackburn for 10k for a year and then dropped down into the championship, he could still probably command at least 5k.
