I can see us going to the trendy 4231 that everyone currently is running. Which is basically something to the 4213 etc.

Gives Hamer a free role to cause damage Blaster and another centre midfielder would hold the middle.

Could Egan play on the left side? That’s my biggest issue. If Egan stays on and we get Worrall I would imagine it’s a back 5 again.

Seeing a lot of criticism here of Egan on the ball, which surprises me. He's fairly decent with both feet and even steps forward with the ball occasionally. He's so much better than Robinson with the ball.

Egan's biggest problem was always turning and chasing.

I hope he's fully fit soon, with no after effects, then signs a 2yr contract with us. Leader and an inspiration. Overall been excellent for us, with only one bad season in Prem relegation (helped us to 9th before that!!).

Regarding Egan on the left, I don't think it matters so much in a 2 as opposed to a 3.
In saying that though, Egan has played LCB in a 3 for Ireland

Honest question. Have you ever really been that impressed with Brooks?

I’m ok to persevere with him as a squad player but I have no expectation of him becoming a starter to be honest.

Might be one for the unpopular opinion thread but I’ve just not seen very much in him other than a couple of matches where he did the basics relatively competently.

I'm just listing him really as i know he'll be here.

He looked great in his 1st two or three games, but never really kicked on afterwards.

He was beginning to show signs of wear and tear in the middle of a back three and now he’s been out injured for a year.

Sounds a bit like the triumph of hope over experience to me.

yes but in a back 3 he was getting isolated especially against pacey centre forwards and couldnt handle them in a back 4 the 2 centre backs are much closer together and tighter and can cover each other however if were signing harrison burrows i think were certain to be playing 3 at the back it will be worrall egan and robinson

But won’t he be more exposed in back four than in a back three? ‍

And I’m sorry but that back three doesn’t inspire much confidence in me either

I’d rather we have Worrell in the centre and bring in someone like McNair for the rcb slot…

no not with the ball over the top and our wing backs are up the pitch and rcb and lcb are in wide defensive areas

personally would like us to go to a back 4 but think whilever wilder is in charge it will be a back 3 certainly think theres something in the worrall burrows rumours a back 3 of worrall egan and robinson with bogle and burrows as the wing backs would be as good a back 5 as any in the championship

I do agree with that.

Robbo isn’t good enough to play in a back 4 which is an issue. Do we drop our best defender to accommodate a new formation?

I don't think we can plan with Egan as our 1st choice centre half. That doesn't mean we should not offer him a contract or he will not end up in the starting XI in August, but we should still be aiming to sign 3 CBS, two starters and 1 cover.

yeah possibly worrall at cb with egan as his back up a lot is going to depend whether wilder shifts from his back 3 formation personally providing we bring a big physical defensive midfielder in i think worrall and egan could play as a 2 im sure egan has played on the left for rep. ireland

very good point think all blades fans realise that bogle is great attacking but very suspect defending having worrall behind him on that side definetly improves us

Changing to a back 4 and including players being linked in media and from ITK people on here.

Used 4-2-3-1 but it could be made to adapt to a few other formations.
