Gone really off the boil recently.. Xmas and New Year could be make or break for him here

It's probably a coincidence, but since Glasner's comments about him having "two good weeks", Rak-Sakyi's performances have fallen off a cliff.
Crazy that you send a young lad out to get minutes and confidence then in one fell swoop crush it and set him back months.
Personally I'd use it as a "I'll show him" but as a young kid I can understand it being a kick in the balls.

Palace fan here again.

I think its clear that we aren't particularly impressed by JRS recent run of form either.

We've all seen the flashes of potential, when he is on form he is a serious player that terrifies defenders.

One very important thing to remember is this though - JRS joined you on a long, painful path back from long-term injury. He had barely played any competitive football for a year. This spell of tough games in quick succession is probably the hardest he's ever had to push his injury-prone body in his whole career so far, and he looks almost broken. I'm a little scared he will break down completely and get injured again.

I hope he comes through this difficult period and emerges as a tougher, more consistent player, but the Jury is out right now isn't it.

On a more positive note, I've been enjoying following Sheffield United this season, and my bet for Sheffield United to get promoted is looking like a serious runner :)
Can I ask you this :
JRS L foot is his stronger of the two.
Has he always played inverted on the RW ?
And when doing so , always cut inside to shoot rather than take on defender on outside ?
Has he ever played on LW ?
If so , did he at least occasionally take on defender on the outside ?
If it's his personal preference to play on RW , do you think he'd benefit from occasionally swapping wings in-game ?

I don't know if it's fatigue, but he looks a yard off it at the moment, both physically and mentally.

Ideally we would be rotating Brooks into the team to alleviate this, but he looks completely lost during his rare cameos.

Hopefully a reinforcement or two walks into the building early in January, but even that might not help with the run of games coming up.

Wilder needs to shuffle this pack very carefully over the next few weeks. Some players are clearly running on vapours.

Got to get a winger in January. Don’t mind his slack tracking too much if he’s causing problems in attack, but currently he’s a liability going both ways and that’s not good enough
Don’t underestimate his impact on the opposition.

Usually has two men on him and we’ve noticeably used the left more in the last few weeks.

Cardiff switched off when he went off and Gilchrist put the ball into Moore

Don't normally listen to Talksport but prior to the city v villa game they spent some time talking about inverted wingers and why they play that way. Part of it just comes down to creating more room for other players, not only an overlap but by cutting inside it pulls the centre back out of position too. The secret being to vary it so the defenders struggle to know which way the ball is going to go.
They highlighted Arsenal having to play 2 right footers down their left, making it easy to defend against as the ball is always going to come inside. Part of the reason why Arsenal are struggling to score from open play.(they might have put that right tonight).
Whilst JRS isn't tearing defenders apart, he makes a contribution and we continue to win games, can't see anything changing unless it is forced upon us.

100% unconvinced by the lad. Have been since day 1.

Doesn’t strike me as being an intelligent footballer at all, and relies on whatever tricks and rabbits he can pull out of the hat, which are all too infrequently for my liking.

Brookes must be training badly cos he should be pushing hard for this shirt. It’s up for grabs.

UTB

Natural width on the other side will open more space up for him. I really hope we get to see that with Hamer more central.

I don't think its the fact that he always wants to cut inside onto his right foot that is the problem. He never runs in behind, always comes towards the ball and so is easy to mark tightly.

Nothing about him makes me think he'll be a top player!! Overrated young English talent

Apparently wilder said that Brooks isn't training to the quality expected (I didn't see the interview but commentator mentioned during game) so there's no competition for JRS position currently - unless he switches O"hare to the right (in a 4231 formation) and pushes Burrows into the left of the 3 with Norrington-Davis at left back?

I’ve posted on this before but its a trait of modern football. Wingers very rarely take on defenders in order to drive to the goal line in order to cross in from as deep as possible. Various explanations were given in reply but I maintain that achieving it is the single most dangerous thing for a defence to deal with. I’d love to see the stats on how often it results in a goal but I’d be willing to bet that it is higher than any other pass in the game. Apart from that it excites the crowd more than anything bar actually scoring a goal.

⬆️ this

After the first few games the opposition obviously watched videos of previous games & saw how dangerous he is. So they started putting 2 or 3 defenders on him whenever he got the ball. Therefore he doesn't skip past them like he was doing. However this does create more space for us & guess what.... we're top of the league 😏
His impact is not so good to watch now & the whingers are now saying 'send him back to palace' 🙄 but he's an important part of this great team without a doubt.
He is also capable with both feet, not just a left footer, watch a highlights YouTube of him.

Good point mate...I think!
You're saying we're more effective without him on the pitch? ;)

Shuffle with what though ?

The obvious switch is to stick o hare out wide where his hard work but continuous turnover of possession wouldn't be as harmful and move hamer in the middle

Still think. Brooks should be given a run on the left
Caerys the ball really well and gets you higher up. The pitch

He’s doing fine

Yep, it's a problem.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see McCallum and Burrows both start down the left a couple of times (interchanging as LB and LM) which will give Hamer a break.

Assuming that Souza is back for Burnley onwards, Hamer also won't need to rotate or cover in CM, as Peck will need a rest at some point.

The RM spot is more problematic, as Brooks seems to have fallen off a cliff. Brewster can probably do a job over there, or he slots into the 10 and O'Hare shifts right...but he's another one who can't keep going like this forever, surely? Maybe Marsh will get a chance too.

Upfront it's just a case of rotating Moore and One from the start until Campbell is back.

The defence is fine I think, provided Anel is back soon.

Agree but it still sounds like rearranging the deckchairs ont Titanic, we had 5 Accademy players ont bench yesterday. Prince will just jump ship tomorrow in time for us to feel the full impact of his underfunding on squad strengthening.

Not a criticism of Wilder he’s done a great job to be technically 5 points above 2nd to little old Leeds as have the kids he’s had to use.

But we’ve hit the top of the league just as the squads energy appears to have hit the bottom with fatigue and injuries. Next 5 games could thrust us down into the playoff spots. I can’t see 2/3 signings changing much especially if Wilder is looking at players like Ashley feckin Barnes (as rumoured). It’s fitting to the season he might be given a few bob to buy magic beans with everyone expecting another Miricle on Shoreham Street.

It’ll all be sorted tomorrow

I know that he's not a direct replacement, but we are missing Seriki's impact of the left. Could really do with him back into the squad ASAP.

Anyone know how long Seriki is out for?

To overtake us both Burnley and Sunderland will probably need to beat us, and hope we slip up elsewhere whilst they keep picking up points. Very possible, as both are churning out the results, but Burnley themselves have a tricky little run of fixtures too. Less so for Sunderland.

It's going to be a fascinating and probably nail biting 10 days, but we do seem to be the team that finds a way to get a result, without blowing too many teams away in the process.

We'll see regarding transfers. Wilder played a blinder in the summer, but went on record to say that his business was unfinished. Let's hope he has 3 players lined up who can really add to the promotion push.

But we’ve hit the top of the league just as the squads energy appears to have hit the bottom

That has to be the most deliberately misleading sentence I've ever seen on here

We've just won and we've been top most of the season

Yes he did and hope he does. I don’t have much faith in JTW. Unlike summer signings, that’s squad building with players getting to know each other and team. JTW is patching up and until tomorrow we don’t even know who we hold the begging bowl in front of and how much change they’ll put in it.

I say “we”, Wilder presumable knows how much he’s got and who he’s after. As you say it’s gonna be a make or break 10 days for fans on and off the pitch.

I don’t agree

I would have thought that B56 deliberately wrote his comments , rather than by mistake , and that his sentence isn’t at all misleading.

Actually it’s quite clear tbh .

Well that just confirms I'm right then
