Anyone know why Seriki didn't make the squad last night?
I have checked again - I don't know where the full interview has gone - there must be more than the 2 minutes because on Twitter X there is a quote from CW about Souza's dodgy hammy.

So we still don't know why Anel & Seriki were out of the squad.

I think he's raw, is a talented lad but is far from clear on his own style of play as yet, and has a lesser repertoire of skills and tricks to try. Cutting inside onto his left is more predictable and also, largely hit and miss.

I rate him though, and I'm glad he's here and he's a real difference maker on his day, he's just less established than say, McAtee was, in terms of clear play style and assertiveness.

Anel turned an ankle at the end of the last bit of training and Seriki has a calf strain. Where I've got that from I don't know, X, Facebook, Instagram, TV, next door neighbour. It's just information overload sometimes.
This is a good point , which seems to have Burrows playing as a LWB but on the R side Alfie is just a RB who isn't much good in the opposition half of the pitch.
Is it fair to Burrows to have to cover twice as much of the pitch as Alfie ?
Or do you think that other defenders are instructed to cover LB position when Burrows goes forward ?
It must be similar to when we played with overlapping centre halves, as soon as Burrows goes foward, someone must be covering the space behind him. It's most likely Vini, but I'm not sure.
At the moment it just doesn't work as well down our right.
Perhaps someone can tell us how many goals we score or create down each flank, which would tell us if there is an inbalance or not.

Think Brooke’s has dropped down the pecking order - no idea why, presumably not showing “it” at Shirecliffe.
Last couple of times he seemed to be lacking the fearless confidence of youth and stopped doing what he was doing well.
Too many times he was in a position to romp through the last third but chose to check and turn back, laying it off to a defender on half way.

What's up with this lad? Just doesn't look interested to me, is he missing London?

Totally agree. Just doesn’t look interested. Wonder what his problem is. Home sick? Think he needs dropping as after Millwall and today doesn’t merit starting in my view.

Poor lad's probably out on his feet. Like a few others.
**** that he needs a bomb up his arse. Was very poor today, slow of thought, never made to get early runs going, poor decision making, disinterested. Young talent like Raki needs to run his blood to water for the cause. Then the plaudits will come. He's been poor last 3 matches simple as, doesn't need dropping needs tobe told 'buck up'

Poor against Millwall & Plymouth, but we know he has end product.

In the handful of games before the most recent two he:

Got us the red card against Sunderland.
Scored against Oxford.
Goal & an assist against Coventry.
Assist against Stoke...

Within all that Brooks had chances from the start (Bristol) and off the bench (various).
He did nothing in those minutes to show he's a realistic option and you have to assume in training the story is similar.

I'm surprised he is being overlooked for someone like Shackleton that's done even less, but I'll trust Wilder on this. He isn't getting much else wrong.

This is probably the first time in his career he’s playing 90 minutes week in, week out. And during a very congested time. It’s no surprise he’ll have games where he looks either short of ideas or runs or fairly knackered from quite early on. Quite why Wilder isn’t mixing in Brooks to start some matches is beyond me and must be based on something I’m not seeing, ie. training pitch.

Has two choices.

Can either end up strutting around like a Peacock at Orient in a couple of years, or take advantage of the opportunity he has with us to learn about the hard yards you need to put in to be a success.

Either way he has no right to drag Gilchrist down with him, who's form is directly linked.

Your choice Jes. Choose wisely . Most of us don't get the options.

Reminds me of the 'McAtee Pants Down' thread.

Fuck off. This shit is so fucking tedious.

Could probably do with a break, but really don't think he works with Gilchrist at all, there's too much of a disconnect at both ends, which happens a lot less with Seriki behind. Maybe start Brooks at Cardiff?

I was actually thinking in the first half this is the most work he has put in off the ball by far.

People need to get over this looking interested shite. I reckon this lad could score the winning goal to win the champions league and still not look interested.

JRS to me never looks great over a 90 minute game. Defensively not great, generally doesn't be a constant threat. When I saw his highlights from Charlton it looked the same. But what he is capable of is those moments to get a goal or assist and his return is decent. As long as he does that he has a place.

Brooks seems to be the opposite. Early in the season he was a constant threat. Looked a nightmare to play against but his output just wasn't there. Now he didn't look great the last time out but I think it's very harsh how little he has had lately.

I maintain playing the two TOGETHER would be great. It would make it less likely for them to be getting double marked too.

Typical young winger out on loan. He's being put through physical challenges he hasn't bern, and is a bit up and down form wise. All to be expected. Stick behind him, keep encouraging him and enjoy the next time he destroys somebody. Don't be a whining fanny - especially when his inconsistencies aren't costing us.

On the ball he's class at times, but off the ball he needs to do more.

But he's still young and learning, and hopefully his off the ball work will get better throughout the season.

Oné was similar today as I thought he put himself about today, but at times he looked out of his depth and at times I felt he could have done a bit more to work their defence, especially when O'Hare was pressing.

Not impressed with anything about him. Not one person can tell me he's above Brookes. Good when he can be but so far from looking at him and saying yes next best thing.
You're not impressed with the many many times he's dribbled past a player(s) this season?! Or his goals or assists?

He's been far from perfect, but in his flow he's probably one of the best talents in the league. In my opinion.

I've said a couple of times this season already, with no disrespect intended to anyone including JRS, that there's no chance Palace would want him near their first team yet. He's not been consistently good enough yet at this level. In my opinion.
