I would probably keep him there for the season, starting and scoring goals!

You’d hope even with Burke and moose out the door (and even with Brewster on the sidelines for a little spell.)

  • C40m of signings in mcburnie/Brewster
  • the championships leading goalscorer in history in sharp
  • our player of year and scorer of vital goals last time out at this level in Mcgoldrick

Should be sufficient for a potentially dangerous striker force at this level. especially supplemented with ndaiye.

Lacks a little pace though I have to admit. But we have options who’ve all scored goals at this level before
Apart from the small issue, that none of them can last 90mins, but 25mins with 1 up top, atleast gives us another midfielder....

You’re joking right? We have 2 and a half fit strikers. The half fit one is criminally out of form, the 2 fit ones are 34 and 35.

Does seem like we've not got a choice now with Brewster out.

Of the strikers on the books, the most likely to score is Bill and he's 36 next week and will surely need a bit less time on the pitch in the coming weeks, I'd say the second most likely to put a chance away is Moose but he's never fit and is buggering off to Italy to sit in a warmer treatment room.

McBurnie has fitness issues too and hasn't scored a lot in the last two seasons, McGoldrick isn't someone you rely on for your goals anyway, and then you're asking people to play out of position.

Brewster might be out for a few games and then back hopefully. There’s also ndaiye who looks a real talent.

Longer term the possibility of getting mcburnie back in form and scoring goals at this level with more opportunities (like he did at Swansea) and Jebbo continuing his development in the league below and getting say 15 or so goals. Would put us in a better position.

There’s a lot of ifs and buts involved in that. Whereas there’s one certainty, Jebbison could come back and play straight away.

Take the name Jebbison out of it, we're taking a guy off a league one bench to play straight away. Really?
Not on a league 1 bench though. The reaction from burton fans should tell us everything. He started off on the bench as he couldn’t manage the 90 minutes and needed to adapt but since he’s been starting he’s been clinical. At the end of the day, many of us would prefer to see him then an unfit mcburnie and David mcgoldrick who has not been very impactful of late

On the flip side no better time to make a name for yourself and accept the challenge when you have no serious competition for the front spots.

Sharp seems to be one of the fittest players at the club, never needs bringing off as demonstrated by Slavisa and Hecky.

Im not discounting the idea of recalling him, with Moose going and Brewster injured it would seem a sensible move, but expecting him to be starting is a beyond him IMO.

So 3 90min games a week for Bill then, at 35yrs old....what could possibly go wrong!.....

It seems Hecky is done with Mousset, but would it be such a bad thing to keep him now? £300 grand isn't going to get us much and he might be worth a few goals to get us in play offs.

He’ll injure his toe, or pull something 20 minutes into his debut and happily sit out the rest of the season I guarantee it!

Where do you get that from? Just a quick glance shows he’s started 10 out of last 12 games, he’s flying. He’s back at the Lane now and I’d expect him to be involved straight away. Why do people try and down play our young talent like Jebbison, talking like he can’t make the team and is a bench warmer in L1. This lad is going to the very top, get him in the side!

Not downplaying, just trying to not burden the lad with unrealistic expectations. A few goals for Burton doesnt mean he's going to tear up the championship. Been around long enough to see a few young players destined for the top who never got there.

He doesn't need to set the world alight in the next 20 games. He needs to support the mainline strikers. Getting 30 minutes here and there, working hard and grabbing the odd goal. The upside of that is he might be further on his development and do more. The potential downside is he can't cope at this level yet and spends time around players who can.

This is a no brainer for us at the moment

If you're JFH then it's a shithouse move to recall him now but we can't rely on Didz, McBurnie & Sharp with Brewster now injured.

Didz is playing like a man who knows he's going to be released, McBraindead is recovering from covid and Sharp shouldn't really be playing satdi-tuesdeh, satdi-tuesdeh.

Well you said he was a bench warmer basically which is untrue. I doubt you would be burdening the lad by just telling the truth. No it doesn’t mean he is going to tear it up in the championship but anyone with a working set of eyes can see he is good enough to play in the championship right now. He is exactly what we need right now. Within two years he will be too good for us that’s the scary thing.

League one bench? Are you sure? 😂
He starts every week.

And beggars can’t be choosers.

Maybe he's the next DCL, or maybe the ext Jordan Slew. I agree he needs to come back, we need him as cover but expecting similar scoring to Burton isnt realistic IMO. I don't think he's as far in his development as some think. I really hope he proves me wrong though.

It's unfortunate but I wouldn't say it's a shithouse move. It's not as if we have much choice. He will understand that. We'd have preferred he stay there but circumstances dictate.

As an aside, Berge used to play up front when he was younger. It may come to that or maybe playing him and N'Diaye just behind one striker.
