And then at the start of next season, when we potentially will be without BS, Didz, Burke and Moose and still burdened by clown #1 and clown #2, have no money and will be crying out for a championship level forward, we can pat each other on the back, safe on the knowledge we have a lad on the books, who despite showing anyone with two working eyes that he could handle his own at PL level a year and a half previously, we sent to Burton for a season, when he could’ve utilised him at championship level and prepared him.

If and when he leaves, his career arc will that of DCL, steep and impressive, and will leave us wondering why we wasted a season of him at Burton. It’s like Lewis Hamilton being forced to be a taxi driver.
Or, it could be like when Lewis Hamilton started learning to drive in a go kart, he didn’t go straight into a Mercedes F1 car did he?

Let’s not overegg his contribution in those last few premier league games (which weren’t a year and a half ago btw, they were last May/June).

He needs nurturing, if he had stayed here and got a few minutes here and there he would not be developing as well as he is now, working with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink no less.

He’s that overhyped that all the biggest teams in this country & Europe are sending scouts to watch him.
Well yes, they’re sending scouts because he’s a prospect. If the ‘biggest teams in Europe’ that are supposedly scouting him actually did end up signing Jebbison, what do you think they’d do with him? 100% he’d be out on loan.

We’re doing the right thing with him getting experience and growing week by week at Burton.

We are a middling championship club in a poor championship season, quality wise.

The reason he is out on loan has nothing to do with him building his career and everything to do with us having crap on the books that we can’t shift. Crap that has played just 726 minutes for us this season, championship minutes that Jebbison should’ve got under his belt. Let’s not dress it us as a master stroke in career development.

How did Birmingham deal with Jude Bellingham? How are they dealing with his brother? You play them at the highest level you can and let them find their feet.

Remember, we didn’t think Brooks was good enough/ready and where going to loan him to Chesterfield in L2, the season he took the piss against Wednesday and Leeds in the championship.

We’re a club who was faffing about with DCL, sending him on loan, not 100% convinced that he could cut it at L1 level, 3 months later he’s playing in the Prem.

I’m not suggesting Jebbison should be starting for Real Madrid. He is a generational talent and should be playing for us now, in the championship. He won’t be with us in 2 years time, and I’d like to see a bit of him in a red & white shirt before he leaves.

You've directly compared Jebbison to Sancho, Alphonso Davies and Jude Bellingham: I think you're getting a bit carried away.

In levels of talent ‘no’, in how a team deals with a young player ‘yes’.

Also the names were mentioned off the top of my head to show that German sides were happy to spend large on young unproven talent and rotate between reserves and 1st team squad.

As a general point, I think a lot people are seriously underestimating how good he is/could be.

Fair enough, you're definitely onto something regarding introducing young players: Most managers would trot out the old "if you're good enough, you're old enough", but they don't really mean it, they certainly don't show it.

You hit the nail on the head in your post above by the way; the biggest factor in all of this is that we're overstocked on forward players that we can't shift, rather than his loan being purely about his development.

That being said, it seems to be working for all parties up to this point, and Jebbison appears to be developing nicely.

I hate it when you post balanced stuff. :)

But its the talent at that time that drives how a team deal with a young player

And the problem is that if we extend Billy and Didzy's contracts then we'll be in a similar situation next season. Only Mousset goes. I can't imagine Burke, Brewster and McBurnie will all find suitors.

This is hopefully what Heck means about a pathway. Not just playing young players but not having a bloated squad which blocks their opportunities.

Think he’ll go to Dortmund this summer.
Dortmund maybe if they solidify their interest. There’s one team not being talked about though with shed loads of cash and a manager who likes to spend big money on young English strikers. It would not surprise me if in the summer Newcastle aren’t sniffing around.

Just a one minute video that Jebbison posted himself—I assume his mate or agent made it for him. Still, can’t help wondering if our current strikers are capable of doing some of the things on show here.

Tbf, at championship level you'd expect at least one defender to..... you know.... try and defend.
That vid is pish.

you not been watching the blades this year?

We've offered up tonnes of chances like that, and we sit mid table. get him back, bin off mousset.

If he's been sent to burton to get some minutes and play some mans football he's done that, shown he's at least at that level. Fighting to get a slot in our matchday squad will do him good

We can’t get rid of Mouse as nobody wants him! the only way he’ll go is at the end of his contract lets hope he doesn’t have an extension that he can trigger like Hammond did.

Why have him on the bench when he's getting lots of regular minutes where he is?
I'll trust Hecky on this. Our manager. Who knows Jebbers and where he's at better than any of us.

Bear in mind that Oli Burke looked really good against Bristol Rovers of League One in the FA Cup last year.

Great to see Jebbison doing so well though, looks like being a perfect loan for him (and us).

My personal view is that if we were significantly higher (or lower) in the table then I'd say get him back. As it is we're charting a steady course for a midtable finish and it's a big ask for him to make such a difference to us that would propel us into a proper playoff charge. Let him have a full season at Burton IMO, Mousset will be gone at the end of the season and who knows with McBurnie, so we'll have a clearer picture of his role with us in the summer.

He will be developing and learning so much more playing regular football than sat on the bench and having minimal appearances off the bench. In addition he will be receiving specialist coaching from one of the best of his type of forward in JFH

I really hope his mum made that. And chose the tunes.

Agreed.

This loan is EXACTLY what is best for us and Jebbo this year. He's playing near enough week in week out at a very good standard and improving as a player the more he plays, also invaluable experience through JFH

He comes back next year either ready to lead the line in the championship, or adding several million to his price tag. Its win-win.

Maybe he'd have made more of a impact for us than McB or Mousset or Burke - but isn't the difference between promotion or not for us.

A massive IF, but if they continue to improve, gel together, play to their potential and they don't get sold a front 3 of Brewster, Jebbison and N'diaye could become ridiculous.

The only downside is on current trajectory, we'll struggle to keep Jebbo & Ili
