Wasn't/isn't Robinson a winger/inside forward also?

Perhaps he would actually be better playing up front. Thierry Henry started life as a winger and was moved. Jags used to play in midfield. Basham never used to play as an overlapping centre back.

The problem is Robinson still looks like a winger rather than a striker which is where he is asked to play. My biggest concern in signing Bowen would be whether he'd be able to adapt better. From the games I've seen him play, he floats more than Robinson and I think would be ok playing as a second striker with licence to drop deeper to get the ball (a la McGoldrick) but he'd be an expensive misfit if he can't.

True, but Bowen is and has scored more consistently than Robinson ever did at PNE.

Don't fancy him to step up, looks heavy-footed, no great speed, all left peg. Looks classic lower league goalscorer to me.

Report this morning suggesting that Newcastle have dropped out of the race to sign Bowen

Bad news is that both Leicester and Spurs have entered the race

I think on that basis and if true, CW will have moved on to other targets

He might see us as a more realistic path. If players have confidence in their ability imo the best way would be to move to a club like us, Brighton etc. One good season and their contract, fee and opportunities would be significantly better.

Fair point, but Hull might see a bigger fee as the more realistic path and push in that direction.

How much Bowen and his agent put money at the top of their priority list as opposed to opportunity on the pitch we'll find out in due course, but it's obvious that both Spurs and Leicester can blow us away financially

Without a doubt. I just wonder whether mentalities might switch in the coming years as it's not just big money vs little money. It's big money vs less big money with a better prospect of huge money.

Local press here saying West Brom are going to test the water with a 15m bid

Transfermarkt is rubbish.

Bowen is a forward, in his last 3 games, he's played wide right, in the number 10 position and lead the line up front.
He can play in any forward position, think a poor man's Son Hueng Min or Raheem Sterling.

Good comparison . 👍

Know what you mean, and CWAK clearly agree, but we never got overrun last season when we played Duffy, probably because he gave the defence, and Norwood, an out ball. We have to try it sometime, and I wonder what we'd do if Lunny was injured or suspended ?

The answer to your question is that the world would stop revolving , spinning slowly down to die .

Oh , and one by one , the stars would all go out ........... It must be true - I've read it on here . :)

I'm not so sure , me .

No guarantees with championship playere as we know but given this is the market we are shopping in I hope so. Hes proven himself in this division scoring goals 3 seasons running and hes durable, hardly missed a game the last 3 seasons.

Local rag update says Wolves have now joined the race for him and surprise surprise villa .

Seems like quite a few clubs are watching him . We will see .
Personally I would like to see him at BDTBL, I am sure he would be a good fit for us.

Sky bet have villa as favourites to sign him .

He was offered a new 3 yr contact by dull back in October which remains unsigned .

I've not seen much of him bit I wonder if he could be converted to play lundstrams role

Not for £15m in January, no way. We ain’t spending that. West Ham maybe

Agree

Would like him here at the Lane

Think he would be a success in the PL and his value would rocket

However, we probably can’t afford him. VIlla could go down, but Wolves would blow us out the water. I haven’t a clue as to what our Jan budget is, but suspect it won’t be a great deal. If CW is chasing Woolfenden then that that might clear £4m - £5m off the budget, so can’t see there being too much left after that and an overseas loan or two

I’d expect our budget to be £15m all in and with talk of 2 perms and a loan , this would be a non starter. But you never know......

It’s all guess work . We was under the impression that the summer budget was 20m !

I don’t think personally we will spend that much but we shall see . How we miss mr RC .
