Not too impressed tbh but he is better than owt we have at the moment, I just don't see a big improvement on Collins J,Mc or Edgar here, still at 27 he will have a few years left in him and when you are shopping for freebies with the likes of Rochdale and Shrewsbury you can't complain too much. I suppose it just highlights the present state of the club.

Sorry, meant the smack on the wrists from Linz, didn't want anyone to think I was being serious thats all. Crossed wires and all that.
Bloody reply to her then. I've got enough to deal with being called a BMC.

;)

Welcome to the club James Wilson. I can honestly say, hand on heart, that you;re the best CB at the club. Straight in at no.1!

You called sharp a waste of money

You called Duffy and Hussey ageing wastes of money (or words to that effect)

You said we should be cherry picking the best from the division and below, then when we did, you said the above.

You are frankly, an idiot who no matter what, will be negative and boring. You do it for the reactions, that much is clear and its kind of sad.... if only you had something else to occupy your mind with..... If you send me your address, I will send you a jigsaw puzzle in the post.

Leave one piece missing.........Oh and by the way season tickets are swipe cards now and not a book of vouchers..........Oh and don't get disorientated as the ground has four sides now.

Don't know much about the lad,but being quick and mobile, and able to bring the ball out is a start...aswell as being a proper Centre Back..welcome aboard.

Wilder says...

"James is an athletic, mobile centre half and knows this division," said Wilder. "He turned down a contract at Oldham and had other options but we've had him with us for a few days, had a good look at him and he will be a good addition to our squad."

Hopefully he'll get the best out of him. It'll make a change to have a defender who can run. He should be decent cover at right back and centre back.

The type of signing that can go either way.

But for perspective, if Wilder got us promoted with signings like this, you'd have to say he'd done an exceptional job. If he doesn't, you'd have to excuse him and blame predecessors. Sadly, as ever, that won't happen.

I will reserve judgement until the squad is finalised. Previous regimes have blown the budget, so clearly Wilder has to pick his fights. Not every signing will be impressive at first glance.

Given Linz has asked us not to sling shit, I'll just make it clear that I was being sarcastic.
Perhaps you were too?

To your comment absolutely. To the cast of hundreds who have dragged a decent forum into the madhouse, absolutely not.

Awful signing. We really are skint. What was that investment "think Liverpool" chat all about? As usual, it's our board making absolute mugs of themselves and taking the fans for idiots.

Morgan Morgan calm down and give the lad a chance. We've made some over whelmimg signings in the past with good reputations and they've been poor. Maybe it's the underwhelming team players that might end being the best. We have no choice but to give the new manager a chance and support his judgement.

Also regards the Liverpool type investment did you really think we would be signing players like Saurez and Sturridge. It was a figure of speech meaning we will still work within a business model relation to league 1 and not to a Man Ciry where we spend a few million on players when we feel like it.

I can't fucking wait to see him play, brilliant signing, just what we need.

A) When signed, lauded by the fans, player turns out to be amazing

B) When signed, fans underwhelmed, player turns into fans favourite

Reckon we've seen far more from pot B than A.

Right manager, right attitude, right environment - can do amazing things to a player. Plenty of examples this year. And Wilder is an expert at this stuff.

Question is:

Will James Wilson turn out to be a 'fucking one of Wilder's fucking useless wage-stealing signings' or a revelation in the centre of defence who gets himself in the way of everything and prevents opposition forwards from getting near the ball?

Okay, start the clock ...

Ah, shit!

Was going to jump straight in to deride any hypothetical negative reactions one or two individuals on a discussion forum might have but it looks like I've been beaten to it.

In my eyes if you're not jumping for joy with the news of this signing then not only are you not a Blade, but you're scum.

And there I was poking fun at the former BMers. Can't think what got into me.

Do you ever have anything positive to say about United you fuckin miserable twat

....... Apologies moderators but somethings just have to be said

Indeed ...... we may not know a lot about the lad and he may not have played for Real Madrid, but he can't possibly be worse than Collins or McEveley at CH ...... therefore I'm happy to judge him on his performances in the red & white shirt ( thank fuck they're back now and we won't be playing at home in an away shirt ) after 10 games or so.

Now get out there Tufty and get us two more CH's, two CM's, a big strong fast CF to play with Sharp and another big, fast tricky winger who can cross a ball to our players and I may start to feel excited !!

I do thInk it's about balance and perhaps being slightly more aspirational rather than blindly optimistic. A fine signing, but we need a lot more quality to get us up in my opinion.

This. Balanced and reasonable. What the hell are you doing on here? :)

I personally think this is an incredible despite having no idea who he is.

Thank f*ck we've signed someone - the tension was becoming unbearable!
Hopefully the negative comments from Oldham fans are because he lost interest in playing for them. Athletic & mobile sounds like the ticket if we can pair him with someone big & nasty!

One thing Wilson, Duffy and Hussey seem to have in common is a lack of injuries. They have all played regularly over the last season or two. They also all seem to have pace. Fit pacy players, that makes a refreshing change.

Not picking on the lad and for all our sakes I wish him well, but I can't help thinking that he comes in the category "the price was right".

Hopefully one thing this signing will do is strengthen our position when negotiating for our main centre half targets, as we're no longer as desperate.

Those knocking this player, do you trust our new manager or not? When we appointed him I heard a lot about how he was the right man to return us back to the values we all associated with our club. He's backed this player as being what we need to move forward. What's changed and why doubt the manager at this stage?
Welcome James, give it everything you have and this will be a special place for you.

This lad was the one I'd heard was a done deal, agreed it may look like a underwhelming signing, I'd never heard of the lad. He's really impressed CW & AK while he's been looked at and on that basis welcome to the Blades James. I have a strange feeling you will develop into fans favourite ;)

It seems from reading Oldham fans views on Wilson that they think he's got quality, and on paper, has all the tools to be a very good centre half but at the same time is a bit mardy, drops his head when things aren't going his way and needs a Chris Morgan type alongside him both to compliment Wilsn's footballing side and also to gee Wilson up. If that's the case then I reckon we have to be realistic in this signing but also say that Wilson has all the tools to come off and be a really decent signing and in Wilder we know we have a manager who seems to get the best out of players. Also I reckon McFadzaen is an ideal partner for Wilson, should we get McFadzaen.

A good friend of mine who is an Oldham fan says much the same thing about him needing to be alongside a leader to get the best out of him
