Whilst I'm not advocating anyone slagging him off before we have seen him, there seems to be too much of this 'how dare you be underwhelmed by this signing' attitude that is equally unhelpful.
He might be class, could turn out to be the best centre half we've seen at the lane for years. HOWEVER, the guy is 27 and never played consistently at a higher level and gets 'mixed' reviews from his former employers. We were also competing with Rochdale for his signature.....
I'm all for 'wait and see' however it still doesn't strike me as the calibre of player we should be expecting to sign as a promotion-chasing (lol) side. As a back up, this would seem a perfectly sensible signing - knows the league, prime age and zero cost. But we all know he'll be starting for is in August.
I do thInk it's about balance and perhaps being slightly more aspirational rather than blindly optimistic. A fine signing, but we need a lot more quality to get us up in my opinion.
