McB and ID is not a bad front pair, with Brewster to come on for the last 20 mins.Fair enough IMO, especially in a tricky away game
Brewsters non selection far more inexplicable
I'm definitely warming to him, just hope he's not injured after that assault on Tuesday night.I think he's quietly improving, you know. Definitely showing for the ball a lot more and looking a lot more positive with it.
We now need him to get on the ball in more threatening areas and use those fast feet and that tight ball control to get in behind teams and open them up.
He's shown some great bits of skill in flashes.
It's been slow-going for him, probably because he's been kept out of the side for so long (rightly) by Berge and Ndiaye but I'm happy with his speed of development for the limited minutes he's had. I think there's a lot more to come. I think he's a confidence boosting performance away from maybe breaking out.
I don't subscribe to the Ben Woodburn mkII nonsense.
He's clearly got way more about him.
Also, he is physically a lot more able than a lot are giving him credit for.
This much is true. Not many have the ability to do a 360 on the spot like he managed at Bristol City the other night! Also, he is physically a lot more able than a lot are giving him credit for.
I like him, loves a rash tackle and has undoubted ability, just needs to get more used to the rough and tumble.of the championship, I reckon second half of season he'll play a major part in our promotion.....UTBs
Not a criticism of you, but this is the sentiment that I've heard trotted out a lot - often, in more brutal terms.
A lot go down the "he looks like a kid amongst men" type comments.
I don't think this is true. I think he's more than able to look after himself.
What I see is a player who isn't used to the pace of the men's game.
A player that isn't used to having to move the ball quickly to avoid being dispossessed / clattered.
A player that isn't used to playing without the ball.
Coming from City's academy (assuming they play the same way as their first team) he's probably used to teams standing off whilst they look to unlock the opposition defence.
I think playing in tight games has been the culture shock for him.
Far more so than the physicality.
He needs to do a lot more, particularly out of possession, but I do see a lot of encouraging signs.
So in a nutshell needs to get used to theNot a criticism of you, but this is the sentiment that I've heard trotted out a lot - often, in more brutal terms.

Kid has only just turned 20 & playing his first bit of men’s football ever.
He’s been fine. He’ll have his good moments, there’ll be times where is out of his depth, but that’s what happens when you play kids in the men’s league.
I think the fact that our players piled into Bristol City's even after the immediate red card will help with that too. He'll know that if he gets some roughhouse treatment it'll get given back in spades by JLT, Baldock and McBurnie.I think Luton was a major eye opener for him. I personally can't remember watching a game with so much let go, and McAtee in particular got clattered on several occasions.
His cameos after that he looked like he was terrified of taking anyone on, in fear of getting kicked, but he's grown in confidence more recently. Being part of the team against Bristol will have done him some good - whilst I can't think off the top of my head much he did well on the ball, off it we worked incredibly hard. I think he'll continue to grow during his time with us, but that progression will need to be a little quicker for him to flourish - after all, post WC we will hopefully have Berge back.

Has been excluded from the England u21 team.. seems odd that Doyle has been included but no Macca, injury? looming transfer? or just overlooked?
Its U21s at the time when the tournament starts, because there's 2 years of qualifying you get 22/23 year olds playing in the finals.Yeah that jumped out to me too - as well as the fact that Max Aarons is still eligible to play for the U21s?! - but I guess we just have much more options for attacking midfielders (MGW, Ramsey, Smith Rowe etc) than "orthodox" midfielders, which Doyle is.

Mcatee did have niggling hamstring and foot injuries in the second half of the season and towards the end, maybe he’s sorting those issues out? Otherwise he’d surely be in!
If you believe wild rumours; McAtee is refusing to kick a ball again, unless it's for Blades. "Fuck Man City and England" my kid's PE teacher's father's half-brother said that HE said.Mcatee did have niggling hamstring and foot injuries in the second half of the season and towards the end, maybe he’s sorting those issues out?
