He was also linked to a “few championship clubs” and Dutch clubs the week before that was announced. If he wants out and he wants to cash in I don’t blame him in the sense of securing your future. However he does have a wife and kids and culturally it would be a big shock for them to end up in Saudi, if you are a big name like Ronaldo you probably can tweak a few rules here and there however its whether he is happy to accept the culture change. According to the press we are keen to keep him (and Bamford) personally I think he is a Premier League player (possibly top end Champ) the decision is with him. Like all of the rumours they are that until pen to paper and the dodgy pictures of him kissing a badge are done.
The family would likely be living in the sort of compound most westerners with money live in. A blind eye is taken for most of the rules that generally apply, and there wouldn’t be such a huge shock culturally.

From living in Sheffield to living in a compound is not a cultural shock. Really ?

Contracts can be structured a variety of ways … we could offer 12 months with a further 12 months triggered based on % of minutes played …

We could offer a set wage with end of season bonuses based on league position …

We could get a contract together to suit both sides
Or we could get blown out of the water by the Saudis 🤷

Well done to the board and Bettis and co for backing CW and putting their money where their mouth is. The contract offered probably wont be cheap for a Championship club.

They often get pelters on here (some deserved, some not so) and ive been critical at times too, but i like to be fair and praise all concerned when its deserved. Well done, United.

Agreed, really happy that he is repaying the faith in us by committing to the club.

That's a good contract situation too, about the best, most sensible option we could hope for. Wouldn't want to have got tied down to 3 years or anything silly - you'd think this works for all parties and he might have the option to move on to Saudi or elsewhere next summer (or the year after) if that's what he wants down the line.

I assume Bamford has a similar offer.

Rothwell would be a good signing.
Rothwell and Riedewald along with Peck and Arblaster is a good midfield to rely on.

Nice if Tom Davies can play but we don’t depend on him. No reliance on Matos or Soumaré who just don’t feel like starters in a successful side.

I’m ok with the Bamford and Ings know how to support Campbell. Not sure if we are starting to see dividends a bit from Cannon or we cut losses.

If we do play 4-2-2-2 then Brooks and O’are are good at pressing and you’d hope Hamer and Chong can supplement.

It leaves a lot of players that we simply have no need for -
Well Matos, Soumare shows promise. A loan maybe?
Soumaré is already on loan to us. Not sure he’s a reliable starter. Possibly ok as a bench player but if we have Riedewald, Peck, Arblaster and Rothwell, is there any space in the matchday squad? Matos needs to be loaned to develop.

100%... I imagine our wage bill is ridiculous aswell to say how shit half of the squad is.
