I can see why Palace rated him now to be honest at first but like I said after the game on Sunday, he is like a (compliment) and improved Monty, he does the basics really well, tackling, short passing but also adds being calm on the ball and passing with purchase in his locker. Surely needs a contract extension
Completely agree, he’s a really intelligent footballer and he’s getting close to 90 minutes.

He’s in an apartment up Chelsea Heights with his family, he took it over when Sydie moved out. Last week he was moving some flat pack furniture in so assume he’s expecting to be around longer than a few weeks.

ITK Trig

I said after seeing him at Preston he reminded me of Stuart McCall. Doesn’t try to do anything exceptional just breaks things up and gives it simple
Seems to read the game well which gives him more time to do the uncomplicated stuff. You can see him constantly directing others around him where they should be, etc.
Looks to be a good mentor for the young uns around him.

He has that McAtee quality of seeing through the chaos of championship pressing tactics, and so is able to bypass or block when needed. Essential if we're to recover.

Did anyone else get a little Souza vibe when he effortlessly shouldered their lad into the Land of Wind and Ghosts on the touchline?

I like him. He's not got the physical prowess or athleticism of Vini Souza, but he gives us a presence in the middle of the park.

As others have said, he reads the game well, breaks things up and moves it on.
It's bread and butter midfield play but it's made such a big difference having someone undertake the basics to a decent level (his technical competence likely owes a lot to his Ajax upbringing)...

remember the Selles days of Peck / Hamer / O'Hare in a flat 3? There was nobody in there doing the do.

If his contract runs out in January, I would definitely be giving him an 18 month deal with an extension option.
He's only 29, plenty to offer if he can stay fit.

Thought he was great last night, and of course on Sunday. He lacks pace, but if he had that, he would be playing elsewhere (if we are all honest).

Quick reactions for his shot last night.

I saw Pompey fans moan at that but that was something Vini would do often, just brush people off the ball with ease.
