I could see this happening irrespective of whether Phillips signs or not. It doesnt have to be one or the other, though financial constraints suggest it could be. And as i have alluded to today under the Phillips thread, there is a possibility that we had the extension option at too high price wages wise and have tried to negotiate. The agent said no. We said goodbye, but if you change your mind re negotiation on the wages we may still be prepared to offer a contract. Maybe the player and his agent are the ones backpeddling and wanting the club to come back to the table after reflecting and thiking they quite liked life at the Lane afterall.
Of course it could just be SUFC who are imcompetent, but it always amazes me just how many Blades 'fans' on here are so quick to jump to the conclusion that its United's or Wilders fault for everything that doesnt come off first time. Maybe its a bit of both in the tooing and froing of contract negotiations and its no one's 'fault' other than both parties wanting to see what else is out there before they commit any further. I do recall it being implied at the time that we announced his release that Jairo might still be a SUFC player later in the summer...
