I'd have him ,he would be the .most experienced player in the squad

I’m ok with this as a one off for experience

Every other signing needs to be young, up and coming (getting better) and rapid.

According to DCL, Jags is still one of the fastest at Everton. Probably can't maintain it like the others, but he's still quick.

As a Premier League Cranie, I'd take him for the right wage.

That's not a good comparison at all.Jags is still playing.
Robson was a retired player with managerial experience.
Jags I would assume looks after himself as a player ,Robson certainly liked a drink
Yes. I know that, but I was referring to the comments about his wealth of experience and contacts. Exactly the same comments were made about Robson.

Exactly the same was said about McCall... Look how that ended up! 😉

Seriously though... Robson didn't work out how we all wanted. He did attract some decent players though of course.
But this is entirely different as the main guys here are CWAK. Jags would be a coach imparting his knowledge on the players... Not calling the shots as Robson was.

There’ll be plenty of games we need to dig in and grind out a boring result. I’d think of him as a premiership Jake Wright, wouldn’t complain at all.

I doubt he's got any contacts to be honest, unless we want Richarlison to laugh at our offer or Michael Tonge back, but he's got a shit ton of PL experience, which is useful and something Wilder has mentioned along with young hungry players.

Can cover a few positions, not first choice but handy, but we'll be competing with the MLS perhaps so I feel like the people that don't want him will get their wish.

We are not a retirement home or a school for old washed up players to learn on the job while they wait to get their coaching badges, I have mates with more coaching qualifications than he has. He might be use as a back up keeper he is good at catching crosses ..................................... no fuck him off. Bring Jags back .............. only in Bladey Bladey S2 FFS let it go people.

The in-laws are all proper blues and they think he’s coming to us. They also said he’s still been class this year when he’s played. Perfect squad man if his wages are realistic.

We seem to have become obsessed that no older players should be signed, even if some PL experience would help no end.

Gordon Cowans, Paul McGrath, Gary Speed, Stuart McCall off the top of my head all were older than Jags, had had excellent careers far advanced of our club, yet were superb performers for us.

Theres room for one of this ilk imho.

Jags would be great for us if the price (wages) are right!

Legend my arse

Came through our youth system.

Scored an absolute stunner against Leeds to help us to an upset in the cup.

Player of the Year in his last 3 years.

Could have had a Premier League move but stuck with us to help us get there, and to try and keep us there.

Understandably left after relegation following his 8th season.

Boooooooooooooo.

I agree with the sentiment, but those you quote aren't reasons why we should bring back a player who will be 37 in a couple months

The quotes above aren't the criteria CW has mentioned for signing players and for me, we shouldn't let sentiment get in the way of sound footballing and dare I say it, financial reasons, which tend to muddy the waters so to speak

I completely agree, as I’ve already said on this thread. Whether he’s worth signing now though shouldn't be used as an opportunity to rewrite his history with us.

Ah, apologies – I now realise the post I relied to was some sort of Pinchy parody. You had me going there for a minute – well played metalblade. You fooled me the first time, but there’s no fooling me this second time ;)
