Outgoing? Jack O'Connell

Couple of things to note.

The new contract is signed to protect the club, this is done so when a player leaves the value is increased due to buying out the remaining contract, famously done at Man Utd with Ronaldo, the contract will not stop any move should the club and player accept terms, just means the selling club get top whack and the player gets a pay increase in the interim, which of course the new club has to top, so a win win situation for the selling club and player - that’s why they sign new contracts before they move sometimes..

Secondly, the quote we don’t need the money / we don’t need to sell.

Somebody who’s from saudi needs about £40 million for a hotel, academy, and stadium, should spurs offer £35m plus clauses rising to £40mill, it’ll be bye bye baby.. and we all know it..

I’m serious about £40m as that’s the least we should take - so he was £300k ? (To my memory) that’ll be £39.7m profit before Brentford get their slice... let that sink in before saying he’s going nowhere..

Love O’Connell but we should expect to be tested some time soon..

Thankfully, I doubt Spurs would trouble £25 million with an offer. They're notoriously tight.

If you listen to the full interview the talk is about new contracts and Wilder said he's aware even if someone signs a contract it doesn't protect them from recieving a bid. Then he said if clubs comes in paying double wages then he knows we can't match it.

I think it goes for 90% of clubs in the league. Leicester lost Maguire in the Summer and are an established Premier League club. Same with the likes of Southampton, Burnley and Newcastle who have all lost players they wanted to keep. Palace are almost definitely going to lose Zaha.......it's football.

I know we'll lose players Roy, and as long as we can get a decent fee then that's about the best we can hope for and Wilder has proven to be astute in the transfer market. I just didn't expect to lose anyone in January to be honest, I'd hope we'd keep the squad together till the summer. We of course may well do, who knows, but my point was that we are unlikely to be able to replace someone of the quality of Fleck if he leaves near the end of the window.

Spurs don't offer eye watering wages though.

Yeah they'll offer more than us, but until recently Kane was only on 80k a week and players like Son are on less.
Don’t be fooled by the headlines. They pay a lot of bonuses so that if you play regularly and the team is doing well your overall wage is a lot bigger. That’s how they’ve kept the side together for so long.

For the benefit of Spurs (and any other team thinking of making an offer) can I just point out that Tyrone Mings is a far better player than JoC.

2+2 =5 but Wilder says Jack Robinson is cover for JOC when Enda has always coverd him and we have Osborn to cover Enda. Wilder also says a star player going can't be ruled out?

My maths may be way out but my inkling says JOC is off this window.

It`s maybe one for the summer this, no way can I see us letting him go this window.

Would be difficult for JOC to turn away from eye watering wages, which blow ours out of the water.
Depends if he wants to play in Europe next season? If he does he’s better off staying here!

They were always beyond their means though. Youri Djorkaeff and Jay-Jay Okacha (who we turned down when he asked for £40k per week) on gates of 21k? House of cards.
But that’s what the pig was suggesting; that we live beyond our means.

I wonder if people understand what Wilder means when he says ‘spunking money’. It doesn’t mean we won’t spend, or that we won’t spend decent amounts. It means we won’t spend what we can’t afford and we won’t buy players who are overpriced.
Simple example - Liverpool have spent money wisely and have improved hugely because of that.
Man U have spent money badly, have deteriorated hugely and now have a squad full of players they can’t shift on massive wages. That’s spunking money.

It’s interesting to note that all the money Everton pay out on wages we pay McBurnie 50% more than Everton pay Calvert-Lewin.
Really? I find that hard to believe, he’s had about three new contracts since going there. What are the figures?

Jack O'Connell has said before he'd only leave United if his dream came true and Liverpool came in for him, he says it was a pipe dream he didn't think would come true.

Rumour off a Manc Poo fan today, they're looking at JOC as a possible replacement for "what's that round thing that keeps going past me Jones", as he's wank!??

Not sure how true it is, but I thought I'd share.

If they think he’s a good as Maguire they can pay £80m for him then. If they don’t think he is, why are they buying him?

No way a big team which plays 4 at the back are going to take the gamble on him. None of us know how good he'd be in a back 4.

Left sided centre half. Plays in exactly the same position as someone they paid £80 million for and is an England regular. I'm calling bullshit on this one unless Old Lead Boots is off, which i highly doubt as where would he go?

Maguire played on the right for us though, he could do that, or the middle of a three.

He certainly could mate but he has played on the left for Leicester. Manure and England so just assumed this was his position now.
