A lot of people think Summer is best, but it's not - loads of Wasps and stuff.

NOW is the time to get a nice picnic basket full of quailty cooked meats and savouries, thermos and blanket and have a nice day in the country.

Alternatively, have a trip to rural Nottingham to cheer on those red n white wizaaaards

Spot on - forget the balti pies they need to be serving ploughman's luch and pork pies and jars of Pimms.

Catering manager out

What about dessert? Some kind of baked goods possibly?

And who am I to turn that tap in down....

Should your picnic be to celebrate a wedding, christening, birthday or anniversary, what better than a nice cake? And with over 12 different flavours ranging from Chocolate Baileys to French Vanilla and Champagne, you know who to call ......

I may have done this one before, but I seem to recall that there's a reference on the website to a whisky-soaked fruit cake.

I'd never let my Mrs talk about me like that.....

Mulled wine or is it a little early?

Well, if you want to pay out early Robert......

I see no need to picnic just yet. We have only recently replaced our Chef at BDTBL. He tried hard but his dishes were basic, unimaginative and ultimately full of stale ingredients without spice or seasoning.

The replacement is a young up and coming Sou Chef who has worked at some of the highest profile restaurants in the land but now runs his own kitchen for the first time. He has not got the menu quite right yet but was left with a large stock of below quality produce by his predecessor. The presentation has already improved and fresh cuisine is on the cards in the
New Year.

I shall continue to eat at Speedo's Diner in the hope of Cordon Bleu and Michelin stars down the line. No Al Fresco for me. I doubt we could afford his wages anyway.
