If anyone wants any confirmation of how bad things can get then put ITV on right now and watch the coverage of The massive. Some fat Geordie talking about a cup run where they lost in two consecutive finals and are now playing in the Dog and Duck league once again.

Oh come on criticism comes with the job every club is the same Ferguson got it Wenger got it they all get it it’s relative to the territory of being a football manager

I find it difficult and uncomfortable to criticise CW but I do not so much for his bad buys ( I do tho’) but for his complete denial of responsibility when things went wrong
He felt he was untouchable or that’s how it appeared

his stubbornness to change his arrogance in not pushing and encouraging the foreign market was someone believing in his own hype

he lost the plot and in doing so left us in a mess a utter utter mess

so accept he will be criticised and if he’s a success at Boro then I’ll be chuffed for him

Sad that he left but I accept he needed to go but I will be forever grateful for providing me with a glimpse into what we could have been

Yes we seemed to suffer badly without our support but it was for Wilder and his team to motivate the players through that.
No other manager seemed to struggle as badly under the same circumstances.

Again, who were the players available that wanted to come and play for us on the wages we could afford.

And in terms of the foreign market we were a club that had just made it to the Premier League. Whoever we looked to bring in were going to be either a young player with potential or a player coming to the end of his career looking for a pay day.

I would love to know who these mythical players were who wanted to come to Sheffield and play for us?????

People keep saying he signed his 3rd choice 4th choice etc.. You can't tell me we couldn't signa quality player from abroad for cheaper than his first british choices.

My main concern was the extending of contracts. I don't mind them being paid more as they're on significantly less than most other EPL players. But keeping players on large contracts past their peak was the easy option. I think Wilder had twigged that we couldn't simply buy replacements because they were far too expensive so instead gambled on keeping players well into their 30s and that they would retain the same levels.
 



Gav...thank you pal, a bit of sensibility at last. 4 great years but I do recognise the catastrophic coming off of the wheels last season. Just find it hard to stomach the vitriol thrown his way...very much judged on his last season ahead of the previous four. His first four years were the happiest of my 51 years following this club, maybe not the best football in my 51 years but it weren't bad was it?
All this banging on about new contracts..we weren't doing bad at the time finishing 9th in prem. Quality of signings, yeah we needed better ie Mcburnie,but we were hot favourites to go straight back down, yep Maupay was our 1st choice but we weren't his. Last summer was a disaster although I can't remember much fan opposition to the pursuit of Brewster. The one thing that really bugged about Chris was his pursuit of players...Leonard, Holmes etc for what? End of the day he made mistakes but surely you can't think for a minute he had nothing but SUFC in his heart?
Can we move on now, wish him well, give him the ovation he deserves and somehow turn this club around? UTB..Always

He didn’t lose his marbles, he fell out with the owners. I don’t resent anything about what he did, I resent the circumstances that COVID brought about and the momentum we lost as a result.

Joc was thee integral part .and wasn't replaced ,that's down to wilder .we are now left with fuck all defenders and Middy's but shit loads of forwards

Losing Henderson was another huge loss but the biggest loss was the fans. Under CW the players, management and fans were all in it together. The team thrived off the backing of our fans and also any abuse from opposition fans. Once there were no fans in the ground that took away a massive motivating factor for our team. Conversely the Premier prima Donna's in the other teams lapped it up with no pressure on them from the stands in nothing more than glorified training games.

If there had been no covid there's no way our team would have gone down last season.

This sounds like Slav at the moment apart from the bit about the ‘great formation’.

Players don’t look arsed with the odd exception and plan b seems to be making 3 random substitutions and hoping it works.
