Ismaila Coulibaly

Because when he's given the odd chance in the cup he looks good? He also started against Tottenham, so if he was good enough to be trusted against them why not again yesterday? Or multiple times in the league where he could have been brought on?
Trusted is an interesting word.

Because I remember two players having to constantly tell him what to do against a Spurs team having a training day.

Didn't think fleck was particularly bad yesterday. Actually thought he prob did best he can. We don't see the fleck of old who sometimes took games by the stuff of the neck.

Coulibaly looked ok when on but game was fully lost. Basham also did too.

I think let's see what happens with him but would imagine there is a reason Coulibaly doesn't play that often. Clearly no bad blood between him and hecky so must be reasons.

i just couldnt understand hecky picking fleck to start he didnt get anywhere near any of citys midfield we needed youth and legs in there yesterday

I've said earlier in the thread that I like the look of what I've seen from Couibaly, however cup games are a 'safe' environment to give fringe players some game time. At the time of the Spurs game we weren't on the best of runs, so Hecky probably thought it wasn't the best of times to bring in inexperience in league games. He's kind of been proven right! So essentially, I think the timing/situation just hasn't been right for Coulibaly

He showed some good touches but he lost the ball on the half way line at the end and didn’t chase back and they nearly got a 4th. Billy had a go at him.

Feel like coulibaly has something about him.

He’s looked impactful and comfortable on the ball every time I’ve seen him feature. That said it was unfortunate he got injured at the start of the season as I think that’s held him back from really having a chance to get into heckys thinking.

Definitely one id keep around.

and herein lies the problem I have with those calling for him to play. We have a system. It relies on players knowing their job and covering back. It takes time for players to get used to. Throwing someone in isn't a no-risk policy. There were people calling for him to start yesterday. A guy who has played 1 minute of league football, at Wembley, against the best team in the world. Makes me laugh.

Don't mind him being given an opportunity if we have a couple of dead rubbers ahead but calls for him to start matches are so wide of the mark. He looks a player when on the ball but totally naive without it.

He really, really needed a lower Championship loan.

I really like the look of him, thought the time he lost the ball he was fouled.

Citeh player under the same pressure 5 minutes later got a foul for it and Coulibaly pointed it out to the ref.

A couple of decent switches as well. His best match was against Wrexham at home I reckon when most of the midfield struggled. Maybe a loan to a championship club next season would suit but the Prem may be a place where we get to see his full potential.

I would definitely keep him on the books medium-long term, as he clearly has potential. He needs regular game time though, so if we go up it's a loan to the championship.

If or we get this over the line I think he should get some game time along with Jebbo / Osula. I don’t know what to make of him yet seems comfortable in possession but appears lacks positional sense & def lacking on the defensive side of his game . You need to be able to see in a few games other than just ceos to get a true reflection of the lad

But how the fuck is he going to improve and how are we going to know if hes good enough if he dosent get starts . Surely we‘re not going to keep picking the old guard when promotion is achieved

It's why he needs a loan next season.

I can only claim credit for recalling it from memory from Saturday. Someone else came up with it, Cappy cleaned it up and added some more lines.

Least he's alive! Be good if he could get some decent minutes tonight. We know what Berge and Norwood can do

The AFCON could be a big problem for us

Not with Coulibaly, but Ndiaye

We need to limit it to just him and not sign any more players who will be involved

Sign an African striker for example, and we could be without our front 2 for a month. We can nowhere near afford to do that

Coulibaly will likely be loaned out next year I would imagine. Especially with us giving Osborn and Fleck a new deal, both who can play in his position.

coulibaly has potential no doubt but isnt ready for the premier league and needs to go out on loan to a championship club

We need to sell him. I don't really understand why we'd loan him out because he's not going to qualify for a new work permit if we offer him a new contract. Unless we can loan him out to a club in Europe where he'll play regularly.

It's hardly fair on him to keep him here for no reason

Sell him for whatever we can to a Belgian club and stick a good sell on clause in there

How long does he have to stay to become a UK citizen these days?

We just need to find a local to marry him off to!

Or maybe he becomes the John Lundstram of 2023/24? He was no worse than Caicedo when at Beerschot overall, first season especially and the latter is being touted for 80m!

The kid is what, 21 and everyone seems to be of the opinion he's a waste of time. He's been told.... we've been told, he's firmly in Heckys plans for this season.

I'd rather him play over fleck going forward put it that way, but for mobility reasons.
