Incoming? Ismael Kone

Doubt he would be an instant replacement for SB. Look at how Coubilay has taken to actually get through the door & into our squad. Surely he is one for development rather than a place in our first 11?

I like the look of Kone, definitely the type of signing that is exciting with huge potential and he's clearly got something about him if Norwich tried to buy him previously. But 'm not so sure pinning our hopes of him to replace Sander, even if not as a direct replacement. That is my main concern. I'd hope we have something else lined up, maybe a loan, if Berge is to leave. Berge leaving could literally be the difference between going up or not.

No doubt this lad Koné is a decent player but don't forget we've already got Coulibaly who could be back by Xmas!

Maybe he’s better than Coulibally?

Sorry, don't watch much Bundesliga either. Sure he's great though.

Davis is Canadian but is easily one of the best attacking full backs in world football.
He was really impressive in the 2020 Champions League final when Bayern beat PSG.

Everyone is saying the current Canada team is the best they've had in their entire history.
They even topped the CONCACAF group ahead of both Mexico and USA.

I do watch a good bit of MLS and I am aware of him, but he doesn’t jump out at me or fill me with bags of excitement.

He’s lanky like Sander, but he doesn’t have the same steam from what I remember of him. The main asset that Sander has is his ability to turn on pace and take people on with the ball glued to his feet? I don’t see that in this lad, but I haven’t seen anywhere near enough of him.

In comparisons of play, I think The Barnsley lad has a similar level of forward drive, but he lacks the height.
I wouldn’t call Sander ‘lanky’. He’s a unit.

Described as box to box who thrives next to a number 6 like Wanyama.

Sounds similar to Coulibaly and would be ideal next to Norwood.

Might be a Jan move if we’re still pushing though a good WC would potentially push him to bigger clubs.

Wouldn't Jebbo know this lad as well?

Surely they would have played together at Canadian youth level before DJ moved over here and switched to England.

Feel a bit for Kone in this saga, not really wanted by the fans as they wanted to keep Berge. Probably excited to come to England to play football but fell through at the 11th hour. I wouldn’t be surprised if you still see him play for us in the future, we tend to keep track of these guys long term

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if this is revisited at some stage

Agree, but you can turn it the other way round.
Norwich showed serious interest in the Summer. We've shown serious interest a few months later.

So he knows English clubs are watching him.
If he continues developing and playing well he knows it's only a matter of time before he plays his football in England.
Also agree.....we might have told him we could return with future bids.

He has probably been told that we will continue to watch his development and will revisit the situation and possibly have first option if we get promoted.
it’s the football business it’s what happens
