Is Oliver Burke Sheffield United's own Forrest Gump - discuss

At least he is finding space, making runs and trying to link play. Yes he might (does) need to improve his overall quality but the effort and application is there.

Contrast that with Brewster who is a complete passenger and is constantly stood still. Yes, the service to our strikers is poor, but you've got to do your bit to try and make chances.

Everytime you see Brewster he's got at least 1 defender close to him and he's just static. The lad can clearly score goals but is offering nothing right now.

Burke is by no means a great player but his pace and the fact he actually bothers to run about is enough to make him one of the biggest, if not the biggest, threats in our team. He's the only one that actually puts pressure on defenders and make them look uncomfortable

That chance was like Fleck’s against Man Utd probably easier tbh you have to get it on target minimum it was legit harder to get it off target from that position more composure and he’d be mintonious

True. But it's his exceptional pace and mental attitude to burst through the middle which made it happen. The thing I like about Burke is he makes things happen for himself.

His first touch is heavy because of how fast he's coming onto it. He then snaps at it at full stretch. If he was composed he could have feinted the shot and cut back inside for an easier finish.

I really like Oli Burke up front & for me, he has to be in our XI at the moment. He frightens opposition defences.
I said a few weeks ago that his closing down would lead to something eventually. I was delighted to see him mug Dean Henderson the other night. Another chance he created from nothing but his own hard work. If our lads could finish he'd have about 4 or 5 other assists to his name.

The ref also should've sent Luiz off when Burke took it off him on the halfway.
He also created the penalty for us away at Villa.
And he laid on two or three great chances away at WBA.

Hes an athlete in every sense of the word. Really powerful and i wouldnt want to defend against him. He is lightning quick but his finishing and first touch is championship standard unfortunately.

FFS, he might not be slickly skilled, and his first touch often lets him down. But he has on the front foot every time he's played.
If he wasn't there we'd be soaking up pressure instead of attacking.

I don't know what some people want.
From a striker, goals.

Not that disagree with your point. But he does fail where it matters most.

Agree with most of that fella I really like him Vardy’esk pace looks like he puts a shift in every game and like you said with that chance if Sharp was on pitch he’d have still been in our penalty area so plenty of positives from him I like I think he deserves a goal but constructively if he’s going to continue at a higher level and internationally he needs to work on that part of his game good thing for him/us he’s only 23 so has time on his side

I really like him and what he offers, his impact today was instant. I also like the fact that when he’s anywhere near the ball, I have no idea what’s going to happen next, unfortunately, too often it looks as though he doesn’t either 🙂

He can play but he isn’t a striker, he is a winger playing up front for me

And that shouldn’t be seen as a criticism either, he clearly tries his best
If we ever do go 4-4-2 he’d be the perfect wing man. We’ve not had an out and out winger since Jamie Murphy.

I mentioned in shoutbox, a season in the Championship - slower defenders, more time & space on the ball, I think he'd thrive. Find his scoring boots and get the confidence to kick on. I've got a lot of belief in him & his potential.

If you want more composure and better finishing from Burke, some advice would be to tell him not to chase after defenders all the time, don't make so many runs down the channels, don't run on the ball so much. Get in the box, between the sticks and wait for the balls to convert.

The problem is that we both struggle defensively and don't create much at all without him doing the former stuff.
