Most sensible folks on here (not the looney clappers) have been saying we need 2 top quality CB's and a RB for weeks.

To then see RND in line up was mind blowing - not his own fault but he isn't a footballer any more, to see him booed off was quite sad.

This gungho set up (Ang ball for the Championship) it was soooo obvious don't let Anel go until you have a replacement, why oh why wasn't Ruben saying to owners we need PLAYERS IN NOW.

High line like this means your 2 CB's need to be fast and good, as I say not hindsight loads have said this for weeks.

The first 11 is 3 short, the bench is frighteningly weak. FFS - new owners get the 30 mill you've just had in spent. If you can't afford too, then you were mental buying the club.

Your £105 mill has just lost about 40% -spend a bit and your losses might just not be so bad.

I think the Looney Clappers might just have had a bit of a wake up call. Then again, maybe not as some would back United's board and management if they turned up and shit on their doorsteps.

No feckin ifs and buts. If there is not one or two incomings sorted and a 100% improvement in basic defensive organisation in the team by next Saturday, then there is simply no excuse. Today's abomination should be a complete one off. Sort it United.

None of the "looney clappers" have said that we didn't need new defenders. The "looney clappers" have merely tried to calm down the over reactions, panic mongering, mis-quotes and spreading utter crap by a minority of posters on here. I haven't read a single post from anyone suggesting that our defence doesn't need improving.

Your post highlights exactly what the "looney clappers" have been trying to reason with and argue against, as you're made that up to suit your dramatic twisted false narrative. Superlatives and exaggeration garner more attention and reaction.

If you actually listened to what Selles said about the Anel sale then you'll realise why he couldn't line up a replacement before he was sold. But let's not let facts get in the way of making shit up as a reaction.

Most people have been saying we need defenders. No one thought we were ready for today's match.

Not sure who these looney clappers are? 🤷‍♂️

Every year without fail we hear of the importance of getting business done early due to the criticality of having a full pre season, then we move onto the wait till the window is closed phase of proceedings. It would be nice to not write off the first 5-6 games once just to see how it feels.

Again what you say here isn't hindsight- lots and lots of posters have said this before todays game, but the 'looney clappers' respond to this 'lets see what it looks like at the end of the window'. I'm with you all the way, it'd be nice just one season 'to be ready'.

We can’t even get kits out for the start of the season, actually buying players would be a step too far!

We now play gung ho and on the break.
Which is risky at the bestbof times.
But with a defence like ours its suicide.
Get a strong CB in and a defensively solid RB and this could still work.
We created 10 clear cut chances. We just cant be thos open with Seriki and RND at the back

Sorry but my superlatives/ exaggeration and over reaction are not what was shit today - the shit was there for all to see on the pitch. And yes after what we saw today - Chris seems even more hard done to, than at 5.30pm.

Don't agree, thought some of the attacking play was very good, much better than under wilder .. the problem is we sold souza, Moore and Anel and have not replaced them... The Manager is clearly working with one hand tied behind his back .. if he had the money at his disposal to get the players he wanted we would piss this league

What tune is it to? ;)

Yep it's got that feeling about it hasn't it. I'm starting to think why did they bother. Purchasing Cannon seems to have completely done them in.
I do wonder why some people buy football clubs? like £100 million is a lot of money, for all the whispers of asset stripping they're gonna really struggle to even recoup their investment, if your not gonna invest to get to premier league (which is the only way to make money in English football atm)... whats the point

We shouldn't have needed to have lined up a replacement for Anel before he was sold (as it was all a very quick deal apparently) as we should have already had a centre half through the door to compete with him. There is no reason whatsoever why we haven't strengthened the back line before the Anel transfer.

It needed doing whether he stayed or not bearing in mind he had already told the club he wanted out after this season and with the club management knowing he wasnt going to sign an extension anyway, one would have hoped that we had already foreseen this potential circumstance (him leaving at short notice) and got our ducks in a row by either bringing one in before he went or being in a position to do so immediately after Anel went. There is simply no excuse for the defence not being strengthened before the first game and ultimately, having to play a rookie in his first game at Championship level and a crocked left wing back.

No loony clapping can fudge that. Its negligent. We haven't replaced Souttar properly since he got injured on Boxing Day.

Agree…I’ve said the current team will finish mid table because the defense is so weak and bottom half standard.

HOWEVER just like last season I expect us to make some big signings in the latter part of the window.
Very confident we’ll sign at least 2, maybe 3 defenders, then I expect us to be play-off material.

To me it feels like they took a gamble on reaching the Prem taking their £105 mill to £150 mill ish, Cannon was meant to seal this pipe dream. Didn't happen and you would have expected an injection, what we've seen is anything but - so hence the feeling we have new non investing owners. I'd say they have lost a lot of money already.

I mean it's not conjecture, they had less than 24 hours to register a player for European competition.
So what they did was see a situation and reacted accordingly. I just wished someone a couple of weeks ago would have thought 'Robbo and RND, the former is good backup the latter is washed up' let's buy 2 replacements and register them for 9th August, so that Ruben is given a fair chance. Seems like Feyenord can react decisively and we can't.

Anel was always going. I presume they'd have already sounded his agent out. And sounded us out. They failed to sign the Dutch lad from Boro. I said at the time they'd be in for him. Two days later he's signed for them.

We fuck about chafing players clubs don't want to sell.

Judging by that defending by the time they have got these defenders in, match fit and ready for how we play we might need a centre half called Phoenix
