This excellent thread has stumbled a little so I'd like to say he's doing a lovely job and his mum's dead proud

I'd say these are the main Mitchell influenced signings this season:

Blackman - 8/10
Baldock - 9/10
Stevens - 7/10
Heneghan - 4/10
Leonard - 5/10
Lundstram - 7/10
L.Evans - 7/10
Thomas - 4/10
Wilson - 2/10

Overall I'd say those ratings add up to something like fair. That's a total of 53/90. 5 of those 9 could be considered a success - so far.

Look at it from a value point of view. We're left with more in value than we spent to attain them. On the 7 permanent signings there we spent about £3.1m in transfer fees. I'd estimate their combined value now at at least £5.5m. Not overwhelming but still has to go down as good business.

You've got to accept that some won't work out when playing this numbers game. But if you apply the same selection criteria across a number of players you're always highly likely to come out of it well overall, financially at least - it often only takes one player to ultimately cover the cost of the rest. Our criteria is pretty clear - good age, good attitude, good fitness record, decent ability, reasonable fee.
If we carry on in the same manner this summer then I'd back us to be more successful with our recruitment than we have been this season.
