.....that feels a bit deflated at how the season seems to be drifting? No criticism aimed anywhere whatsoever, not sure why I do because we are in a bloody good position but ...
When all the people at work earlier in the season ( I work in Nottingham) were bigging up our start all I kept saying was “let’s get enough points to stay up first , that’s the main aim.” And I meant it ! But we carried on and on and it was great to watch . Now when I look at the table I feel a tad disappointed, don’t know if I’ve got greedy thanks to Sir Chris , don’t know if it’s because I keep thinking what if Coutts has stayed fit , could we have kept going ? Don’t know if it’s because we seemed to have changed style re pressing and overlapping CBs and I want that back ? I just don’t know what it is but I wish I could shake it because I am immensely proud of what we have achieved in the last 18 months !!!
As ever UTB !!

Same. The better teams are finding their way up the table and we're out of ideas and just treading water. Be reyt.

It's been downhill since Coutts broke his leg and to compound that there's a few players where age has caught up with them. I think Wilder has to go shit or bust with the younger players for the rest of the season. I wouldn't hold it against him if he tried and failed but we're going nowhere as things are.

It’s not in our hands anymore and that might take the pressure off a bit. Alternatively they might all be thinking about a nice early holiday and the season peters out to nothing.

Yes it's you. A bit of realism needed. We are in our first season after 6 in L1. Promotion is something to aim for but there are bigger budgets and quality ahead of us but that doesn't mean we give up on the play offs just yet.

yes playing more games and 2 home games in a week compared to our 2 away
we are only chasing boro and derby

knew when the burton game got called off this headless chicken reaction would start

5 points behind ooohh its all over

I like your optimism, but come on our form over the last 19 games has been poor to average. How many games have we really played well & dominated teams? Nowhere near as many as we have played poorly or like today misfired.

Quality shows through over a season & our 14 game patch was great, but is only 14 games & we have been brought down to earth by the other 21 games [& the following 11]. Old players, tired legs, injuries, poor performances, missed chances, bad decisions we could go on - these are just the real facts that dictate that we will struggle to win 5 of our last 11, never mind getting into the top 6.

This time next Saturday we could be back in the play offs. Need 6pts.

Boro hitting form at the right time but we still have to play them, Preston and B. City

Good post.

I’ve been busy personally today so couldn’t make the game if I had wanted to. I usually have the radio on and the online stream but today I just wasn’t ‘that’ bothered. For me, today’s game felt like one of those dead rubber week 44 fixtures where only table position is up for grabs.

The season started at 100mph. We’ve now entered a residential area. For me it seems to have petered out soooner rather than later. Yes we are still in the hunt but the realisation that we simply cannot match the teams above us has hit home.

Our forward line despite performing above expectations this season isn’t good enough. It’s old. It’s slow. It’s predictable.

Of course I want us to get the top 6 but I’m not getting my hopes up

Would you like to have a little bet? Or a big one even?

If not please stop the sarcasm.

I'm certain that wilder won't let the lads give up on the playoffs yet?. Since coutts got injured, we've been inconsistent and that's been our biggest problem. Teams like boro and Fulham have started to find form at just the right time. No matter what happens in the next 11 games. I'm incredibly proud of what we've done this season. UTB

Whatever happens the rest of the season we need to walk through Burton

mixed emotions really......
on one hand even been in the top half let alone playoff potential would have been a dream just 7months ago.
but having made the start we did it kinda feels like someone's pissed on mi chips.
i can remember 1st season up when we didn't win till forest in December, well this is the opposite to that, we expected to go down, but the euphoria of staying up was amazing - surely it's normal to have the opposite emotion when it goes Pete tong? Not that were getting relegated, but a big chance missed.
i don't put it all on Coutts injury, we have 10 others on the pitch, and able deputies - if not the manager needs a question asking, it's just all a bit shitty end following an amazing start.
would love/hate to see a league table starting the day after the injury tho....

I cannot get my head around having both Brooks AND Holmes sitting on the bench when Duffy isn't even in the squad. Ok Brooks is still working to full fitness but both of them missing out?!
The midfield today provided no flair or invention. Bit miffed if I am honest.

Good OP, think loads of us feel that way. Think the age of the squad is catching up on us, as it might be with Derby - few older legs in that team too !

I just hope this takeover business is sorted very soon so next years targets can be identified.

Some of you members of the 'doom and gloom/season is over' brigade need your bumps feeling honestly. Still all to play for - we go again on Tuesday. COYRAWW!

perhaps if you stop the negativism?

We hardly score any goals, teams are pulling away while we miss chance after chance to get into the play offs but you're right, without my negativity we'd probably be right up there challenging for auto...

We are finally seeing the quality of this division.... deal with it..

2 years ago you’d have killed to be where we are...grow up.. or at least remember...

Yeah, I feel a little bit disappointed with some of the performances. We went up last season and started off this one playing such high intensity football that was a joy to watch. Unfortunately, for a number of reasons, that's stalled and we've been pulling out some really stale displays that I didn't think were part of us any more.

On the other hand, things have gone far better than I expected. The Fulham game was the kind of game I feared seeing every other week where we'd come up against the big boys and they'd have far too much for us. Instead we've cruised to safety and look every inch a Championship club. It's been a long time since I've been able to say that and mid-table mediocrity in the Championship is a damn sight better than repeated failure a level below.

When things were going well I was saying that we'd have a poor run of results. Injuries have gone against us, and a side that revolves around high energy wing backs will always struggle when they don't have any cover for them. I can't pretend to be surprised with how things have plateaued but obviously you hope the dream will carry on forever.

We're in a good position even if the season looks like it's ending prematurely for us, and we have a manager that has performed nothing short of a rescue mission in the way he's transformed the club. It feels weird to be disappointed when, objectively, this season is an over achievement but that's how things are when your hopes get raised.

Yes I'll take any bet
We will make the play offs

And Ill take us to finally win one too
Got to happen one day
I'd have a look at Skybet if you're going to punt on that , 100/30 to make the play offs , 14's to win them. Wish I had the same confidence, and would love you to be proved right !

well anyone whos given up now should say if we do get to the play off final , resign themselves to not going as I didnt have any faith in the team . I didnt have enough belief to deserve to be there

It’s just a punting comment really , don’t be striking any even money bets when there’s value around. Once again, hope you’re bang on , and for what it’s worth I think 14’s is big.

Not at all sure I would want us to go up this season. Our squad is still very much a work in progress and if we were in the PL next season, even with a war chest to spend in the summer, it could be embarrassing. I would sooner we continue to build and go for it when we are better prepared to have a fighting chance of staying up.
