Our squad is still very much a work in progress and if we were in the PL next season, even with a war chest to spend in the summer, it could be embarrassing. I would sooner we continue to build and go for it when we are better prepared to have a fighting chance of staying up.

Why not continue the building in the Prem, take relegation on the chin if that’s what happens and be in a good position to go back up again? That way we get to enjoy two promotion seasons instead of just one.

That's a fair point but by "building our team up" I take this as meaning to get promoted. Once up, there would have to be a clear out anyway whether that is this season, next or the one after. It will just mean the longer we stay here, we will be losing our best players and asking KM to dig in his pockets once again just to maintain the status quo of mediocrity. I will be disappointed if we don't go up this year as I will see it as a wasted opportunity as to get the same start again as we got this season is a tough ask. That said, disappointed not to go up doesn't mean I'm disappointed with the season.

.....that feels a bit deflated at how the season seems to be drifting? No criticism aimed anywhere whatsoever, not sure why I do because we are in a bloody good position but ...
When all the people at work earlier in the season ( I work in Nottingham) were bigging up our start all I kept saying was “let’s get enough points to stay up first , that’s the main aim.” And I meant it ! But we carried on and on and it was great to watch . Now when I look at the table I feel a tad disappointed, don’t know if I’ve got greedy thanks to Sir Chris , don’t know if it’s because I keep thinking what if Coutts has stayed fit , could we have kept going ? Don’t know if it’s because we seemed to have changed style re pressing and overlapping CBs and I want that back ? I just don’t know what it is but I wish I could shake it because I am immensely proud of what we have achieved in the last 18 months !!!

No - it isnt just you and from what Wilder has said in public, he feels exactly the same. The season has been good, but with better backing from the board, it could have been so much more.

We need to add quality over the summer. We should be in the market for better players now, given our league position. HOWEVER, actually getting better players in depends on our board and whether they are going to better support Wilder (and of course sort out whatever squabbling/politics are going on at the moment).

Go up and then come back down with three years worth of parachute payments and one of the biggest budgets in the Championship. Madness anyone saying they don’t want to go up.
