Is it better this season without VAR?

1 million %. I can live with bad decisions. I did for my first 30 years of going to games.

Football fandom should be about romance, disaster and talking about how it all happened both at the time and years later. Not "getting the right decision"
It is like saying "No" to £160M

It's not my money. I don't go to the game because of the division we are in. I go fir the entertainment and the experience of it all. I genuinely don't care about the cold, clinical side of finance and trophies.

When I'm old and losing it I'll remember the moments, not the £££

I think var is slightly better than last year but it's still shit. Not having "dead" play where everyone knows the flag is going to go up is good too.

After two seasons of VAR we're back to fast flowing games that don't stop to allow some refs in a studio to study replays of incidents. More refereeing errors will no doubt be made. Is the overall live experience better without VAR?

This seasons version of VAR seems much better than what we had to suffer with.

The old incarnation of VAR is worse than not having VAR this season.

If that means saying no to diving cheats, dodgy refs, pi$$ing half the money up the wall on bang average players and celebrating goals in the old fashioned way accepting that decisions cut both ways... then that suits me fine. As a man of vintage years Silent, I'm surprised you don't feel the same.

Voted yes, but don't think VAR is the problem. For me VAR did what it said on the tin, and adhered strictly to the rules of the game.

I feel a rule change regarding offisde would be beneficial, such as clear daylight between attacker/defence.
It's a difficult one with offsides as its in the opinion of the referee/Assistant even with a clause of clear daylight that comes under interpretation of an individual. There are alot of grey areas in football. Offside being one of them. For me the attacker is either offside or not and in the split second that an assistant referee has got to give it, I will happily believe him/her it's great when pundits look at things 6 times in Super slow mo and say the lino has got it wrong. He has to decide there and then not an easy job at any level.

Whilst I prefer the more natural flow of the game I can't honestly say I prefer it without VAR at this level.

Reason being that I feel the referees are quite poor and make a lot of wrong decisions. I've seen plenty already this season in the Championship.

This season is showing how much better football is without VAR. It may work in Europe but for some reason didn’t work in the premier league.

football is much less sanitised in this division

Personally I would always use VAR. Maybe change the offside rule to allow more of an advantage, I would say if you have to start drawing lines it should be onside, but in this age we should be using technology to get as many decisions correct as possible. Leaving it to 3 blokes looking at incidents from 50 yards away is frankly rediculous in my view.

This. Using technology is the way forward, just the current implementation of it is poor. Would really like it if you had the rugby style of the ref being mic'ed up for key decisions.

I'm not convinced that VAR would have overturned the pen today. It looked to me that that Endas crazy slide continued into the area. For me it was a stupid tackle as the guy was going away from goal and the covering defenders were getting back. Even if you get the ball, these days you could be sent off for being out of control. I'm not saying it was a penalty, just that where the initial contact is is irrelevant, and VAR is reluctant to overrule a ref's decision.

I reckon VAR would have overruled it, but also Enda would have got a red card.

It was never, ever necessary. Get the absolute bag of shit out of football. Fire it into the fucking sun.

I don't hate many things but I've hated the idea of VAR for as long as it was talked about. It was always going to be a farce and it's actually worse than I thought.
So yeah, fuck VAR 🤷‍♂️
100%

Fuck VAR
