Chris Wilder

"We've got Vini back, we've got Jes back, we've got Ben minutes under his belt, Tyrese minutes under his belt, so on to Friday. The recovery from Sunderland in terms of how we've been and stretched, to get 3 wins on the bounce is immense."

Still light in midfield when we have Vini just coming back after a period out, Blaster out til next season, Tom Davies probably not fit for the coming weekend, and now Hamer suspended. We really need another option or two in there.

Apologies if someone's already mentioned this but (by my reckoning) for the last four league matches we've had five starters in each who probably wouldn't have done so with a fully fit and available squad. We've done terrifically well to get the points return we have.
Yep. Souza, Arblaster, Rak-Sakyi, Moore, Campbell would be all starting. Could Include Souttar too but he's gone back I imagine.

Cooper
Gilchrist
Anel
Burrows
Hamer
Ohare

My only nailed on starters fit.

I don’t think this ridiculous schedule that the EPL have imposed whereby we seem to be playing 3 games in 6 days helps with player injuries. I know it’s the same for all the clubs but it is just asking too much of the individual players. The game is now so fast and physical. 20 years ago I don’t remember this type of schedule and certainly we never had this number of injuries.

Around 20 years ago we had mid-late 30 year old players playing week in week out!

Stuart Mccall was 39 in our first team regular if I remember right.

I agree, something has changed and not just at our club.
Back then we played on rubbish pitches, had way less tech to diagnose injuries but had the magic sponge.
I remember John Gannon having a hamstring injury and was back within 2 weeks.
Are players too protected these days due to insurance policies or is it just over protective modern day sCieNce 🥴

Something caused the comment '' Kieffer Moore needs a hernia operation. I've kept that under the radar but the boy hasn't been great for 2 or 3 or 4 weeks from a physical point of view'' so whether it was a hernia or not, still begs the question why did he let him take the penalty?
It's Wilder's way of telling fans to back off. Having a hernia doesn't explain a missed penalty but, absolutely explains, his poor performances over the last few weeks. Credit to Moore for battling on through it and playing. When he came on at Millwall, he struggled, but now it makes sense. You can't make it public at the time, as the opposition will feed from it.

Generally, I think it's a change for the better. John Gannon wrote how being made to play through injuries caused him massive mobility issues in later life. Peter Duffield ended up with one leg longer than the other after the Swindon injury. As ever, the pendulum has swung to the other extreme, but you're quite right, insurance policies are stringent and players/clubs can't afford to breach them. That said, there will always be a minority that exploit this.

The BBCRS interviewer mentioned in the Anel and Wilder interviews about Cannon being injured. He sounded way more concerned about it than Wilder made out, so it'll be interesting to see if Cannon has done damage to his ankle that may keep him out a bit

In the warm up yesterday hamer was putting them sticky patches to his thigh and during game went down clutching the same muscle, i think its a thigh muscle problem rather than hamstring, i fear he may miss weekends game

It'll be interesting to hear this morning's update on the remaining injuries.

Seriki, Moore, Hamer & Cannon.

The first two should be available this month I think?
