Injuries

Yeah, I saw something similar on Twitter, there's certainly PL clubs with more players out than we have. Oddly the club with the least out is City, who knew that being able to put resources into correct conditioning, nutrition, training facilities etc can reduce injuries
Perhaps by having greater skills the players don’t need to put themselves in situations where they might pick up injuries ?

Some of these injuries aren't hard to work out.

Egan, bound to happen when you play every game for three seasons in a row..

Tom Davies, came here carrying an injury, somehow got through the fitness test, we should have got a free treatment table when we signed him..

Bash, well it takes that kind of injury to keep him off the grass..

Just remember the way wilder played these older (now) players week in week out for 2/3 seasons in a row, 100% full tilt with little or no squad rotation, Jack o Connel being the biggest victim of that regime, centre half, winger, centre forward, all in one roll, jump, head, sprint, tackle, cross, score... Sat - Tues - Sat...

A lot of wear and tear in these players.
And Fleck. Always getting injured and then takes ages to get anywhere near match fitness afterwards.

Egan potentially out for the season with an ACL. The product of being overplayed by ROI, 90 minutes in every game. 2 games in June with little rest. Even with an injury concern last time out he played a full 90 against France and 75 minutes against the Dutch resulting in him being out for the next SUFC game. It was clear PH was not impressed with the situation. Egan was one of the fittest players in the squad and had very few injury concerns yet he was burnt out and the injury is a direct result of that imo.

Davies out for 4 months. Caused by kicking a ball and injuring a quad muscle. That has to be a lack of conditioning bearing in mind his previous injury history and you do have to question the credentials of those responsible for fitness and conditioning as our injury crisis is not a recent phenomenon.

Bill the stand in physio strikes again. Currently writing in his little book "getting the lad to hop on his bad leg whilst holding 6 paving slabs was a bad idea. Next time, don't go over 4."

Good article about Dave Basset being ahead of his time when it came to Sports Science. Maybe someone should give him a ring and see if Eddie Baronowski fitness guru and Andy Crane Psychologist are still around also.

On a positive note we've not got any players that are playing well so our star player won't be injured 😉

If it forces us to sign a decent permanent CB in January then that's a silver lining. Whether that's a long term replacement or not. But hopefully it is

Personally wanted Coady in summer but that had mixed views on here. More pros than cons though.

Vestergaard or Souttar aren't bad either but I suspect we have no chance.

So we have out...

Davies A
Baldock
Basham
Egan
Norrington Davies
Lowe
Osborn
Davies T
Coulibaly
Jebbison
Osula

Full team of 11 players.

Basham, Egan, Osborn, Lowe, Davies, Jebbo all long term too. Most we won't see for ages if at all this season.

Terrific.

If it is a ACL ,they aren't a soft tissue injury caused by over work .they happen with sudden pivoting or cutting maneuver during sporting activity.

My mistake is not an ACL its a severe achilles tendon injury. Egan played against France and Holland with injuries to his knee and ankle.
