Injuries

Some of these injuries aren't hard to work out.

Egan, bound to happen when you play every game for three seasons in a row..

Tom Davies, came here carrying an injury, somehow got through the fitness test, we should have got a free treatment table when we signed him..

Bash, well it takes that kind of injury to keep him off the grass..

Just remember the way wilder played these older (now) players week in week out for 2/3 seasons in a row, 100% full tilt with little or no squad rotation, Jack o Connel being the biggest victim of that regime, centre half, winger, centre forward, all in one roll, jump, head, sprint, tackle, cross, score... Sat - Tues - Sat...

A lot of wear and tear in these players.

I think many people are probably being a little bit dramatic about Adam Davies, he’s 31, away with Wales to play Gibraltar, he’s not starting.

I think in those circumstances, a lot of people would be inclined to ‘feel a pull in their calf’ and get on next flight home for ‘treatment‘.

Chances are he’ll get to Shirecliffe and say ‘Actuallly, it feels ok now’ 🤣

Hecky wanted Davies instead of Doyle because there was no fee ( other than wages etc)..
Most of us could see that was a biiiiiig mistake!

Indeed, with the report not indicating whether it's a hamstring, calf, groin, broken fingernail, I'm calling bullshit on it same as I call bullshit everytime Wes gets "injured" during a game

This simply cannot just be bad luck. Something, somewhere, is wrong.
If we look back at when he was appointed, Leeds and Hibs fans warned us on here about the injuries. I'd have had it down as rank bad luck if it hadn't happened to him at every club he's been at. He's either had a gypsy curse put on him or he does summat wrong.

This article reads as if it was one about us today:

Yeah, I heard this. As much as I like Hecky, this statistic goes on the ever growing list for changing managers.

If Davies is out then surely we just get special dispensation to bring Dewhurst onto the bench.

Not really any difference with Amissah being there. Pretty similar profile.

Don’t know why he’s still manager here. Oh….. sorry forgot…….someone abdicated responsibility for the club, ran away leaving a fat man in a kaftan behind who said you’re on your own for 5 years, here’s Hecky, don’t bother me I don’t understand football.

I don’t ever remember the Prince saying he doesn’t understand football - he spends a great deal of his time watching it. His henchman said that at the infamous press conference, but he wasn’t wearing a kaftan. I’ve never seen the Prince in a kaftan. There are occasionally pictures of him in a thawb, but for the most part he seems to prefer ( scruffy) Western dress.
I assume that the abdication of responsibility to which you refer is McCabe? Abdication of responsibility is a strange way of describing the loss of a protracted and very expensive court case.
If you want to persist in spouting stupid personal insults on here, then at least you might associate them even loosely with the truth?

Not much difference with other clubs when you look at the stats.
The modern game exerts pressures on players beyond those in the past and knees and hamstrings take the brunt. Add in normal contact injuries like Basham and most clubs will have a large part of their squads missing at any one time in the season.

I'd be interested to see these stats. I'm unaware of any other club that has had about half their squad out for 2.5 years.

At least this idea is now being widely accepted now. I got pelters for suggesting this over the last season or two...
"Just bad luck."

I wonder how much we pay in wages to all these injured players

I think the coaching staff have done a superb job and I will defend them on almost every front for what they've had to put up with.

However, this is the one area where it's really difficult. It's gone on for too long now. We seem to be absolutely terrible for not just incurring injuries, but managing them back to fitness.
Regardless of Heckingbottom, this area of the club needs overhauling as it's holding us back and costing us millions.

Just noted that Man Utd have launched an inquiry into all their injuries this season. 16 members of first team squad have been out this season with at least 8 missing at present.
Maybe the inquiry should be league wide and not individual clubs.

I think it was in the Daily Telegraph on Thursday or Friday of last week.

Yeah, I saw something similar on Twitter, there's certainly PL clubs with more players out than we have. Oddly the club with the least out is City, who knew that being able to put resources into correct conditioning, nutrition, training facilities etc can reduce injuries
