Signing on fees are massively higher for Bosmans. He would walk away from a lot of money by leaving this summer.
Yeah he might well get a good chunk more on a bosman. But he'll get a tonne of money either way, is my point. Injuries permitting he'll have more money than he'd know what to do with in ten years.

Is he even a kid that cares about the money side? He doesn't give that impression.

“Injuries permitting” is the thing. Which is why they are all very well advised to make as much as they can as soon as they can. His agent will certainly care about the money side.

And why he should sign a contract with us because if he gets injured badly this season...

Give him 100k a week.

3 year contract with a relegation release clause of 15 million.
Sounds sensible. And so, if he starts picking up niggling injuries and his form drops we're paying him £5 million a year if we get relegated to the Championship?

Because no one is matching £100k pw in that scenario.

That's exactly why players engage reps/agents - to look after the contract and financial side for their clients.

Fact is he will get a much larger signing fee and salary if he becomes a free agent, especially if he impresses next season. This is obviously the strategy he and his reps have had for quite some time.

Same with any other player I guess.

I’d rather tie a player like Illman down to a contract in the hope that 1 he can keep us up or 2 if he is sold we can get a fair bit of money for him.

Exactly. You could also insert relegation wage reduction in like we had done before.

You can't worry about that with players. Always a chance. Now if they've had a chequered injury record yeah that's reasonable. So far he's shown he's improved his fitness and injury record.

I still think this is an assumption being made by some. We don't truly know. The club couldn't even offer new contracts until recently, from what we were told.

His advisors debateably aren't looking after him wisely if that's their tactic, arguably risking his livelihood on an injury free (and successful) season.

Just read Brizl Citi want £25m for Alex Scott 🫣. Illiman is surly near £40m if that’s the case. And no Prem would pay £40m for a player who’s had one great season in the championship

The Prince is skint but he ain’t no fool.

absolutely no way their getting 25m for scott yes hes promising but not at that price

The Saudi money the likes of Wolves are getting for taking thirty year old players means some clubs will not think twice about £20m for Alex Scott I wish we could afford him I would pay that.

That’s very kind of you mate - shall I pm you the clubs bank details?

I know his preference is with Marseille however be interesting if an UAE team offered him super money if that might change his mind. Probably the only realistic chance for us to get upwards of £40million

Can't see that happening. Saudi teams seem to be buying up has beens that can sell shirts and raise their profile, not young unknowns.

I can't see him going to Saudi mainly based on culture. The "instagram" culture of UAE/Dubai would be better suited for a team like that. Plus you do wonder, with most of these owners owning other clubs are they going to use the UAE/Saudi club to purchase then to loan to their more "high profile" team?

A new contract with £30m release clause. From our perspective, we should reward him with a new deal & he should be our top earner. From the player's point of view, it would be nice if he signed a new deal, considering we gave him his chance at professional football.

Essentially we could lose him on a free next year and I think it would be fair for all parties to feel like they've got something out of it. We know he's not going to be with us in 2/3 years' time. I know people will say he owes us nothing, but we gave him that chance & he's taken it since.

It should be so simple shouldn't it. Make him the highest earner by a sensbile amount, give him the No10 (or retire No10, not sure). Have a sensible release clause in his new contract for say 25m to at least let the club get summat out of it. Let the lad go in a scenario where every one is happy.

Like he'd sign that! 😂

You don't worry about committing to paying a player £5 million per year, probably in the championship?

For those suggesting a new contract, you're living in cloudcuckooland if you think Ndiaye will sign it. The lad needs to look after his best interests and any additional commitment to us means his price goes up which in turn reduces the number of clubs that can afford him (and pay him the money he's worth). It will not work in his favour. In the same vein if we were offered more than the going rate for somebody as good as him with 1 year left on his contract the club would look after itself and sell him. He owes us nothing and we owe him nothing. Just enjoy him next season (assuming he stays) as he's as good as we'll ever see in a red and white shirt at the lane.

And hopefully , knowing his character & ambition , he will have every incentive to put maximum effort in for us next season so as to attract the best new club.
I'd like to think it's the same with Berge but he doesn't seem to have Ndiaye levels of ambition.

He’s 100% not a blade next summer, regardless of what happens. Best case would be he plays this year for us, gives us our best chance of survival, but we protect at least some of his value

1 year extension, make him top earner (cost to blades of £2-3m?)
c£10-15m relegation release clause, or perhaps a similar clause which becomes active next summer

Not sure it’s realistic, but feel it would be pragmatic solution. That gives all parties something.

I’d take that if I were him…

A new contract putting him as the top earner, with £30m release clause should we get relegated.
