This isn’t me having a dig at wilder at all but remember him saying that none of the youngster were near the first team. Looks to be very wrong
And then the caretaker manager called up Ndiaye at the earliest opportunity.

I don't remember seeing a better debut since 1968 and a certain Tony Currie. Not saying he will reach TC's heights but phuck me that was good today all be it against very poor opposition. Still you can only go and beat what is put in front of you. So glad Slav stamped his feet and got him back playing for us.

Please don't sell this one! Based on what I saw yesterday, this lad's the future. Him and Gibbs White played amazingly together.

i agree rip that new contract up and and give him a much better one before the big guys start sniffing round as usual
😂 Were you saying the same when Lunny had his run? He has a 3 year contract that he only signed last week.
If he has a good season as a first teamer I’ve no doubt they’ll be a new contract waiting for him in the summer but I don’t get the benefit of offering a new deal a week after he signed the last one.

United weren’t behind the door in giving new deals to brooks as his role in the side grew didn’t he sign 3 in a year if ndiaye continues to play first team football I’d expect a similar approach

Brooks was more of a winger and didn’t fit into the Wilder system as well.…..so he was expendable.
His sale brought in extra funds to help us gain promotion….so in retrospect it was a fantastic deal.

Regards selling any player……it all depends on balancing finances with chances of promotion.
If we gain promotion then we are more likely to keep our best players and put in a bid for MGW.

I agree I’m not advocating selling ndiaye just that the last time we had a youth prospect break through United were very proactive in giving that player deals to reflect his increasing squad status so it’s something I’d expect to see repeated across this season.

HRH said this was the signing that excited him the most. How on earth he was allowed to stagnate because of a contract dispute I do not know. Someone on the management side has some explaining to do, when you consider the Lundstram fiasco.

... not much evidence for stagnation.

Perhaps they played a blinder. If he'd done what he did yesterday in some meaningless PL games he'd probably be on Brighton or Palaces bench right now having signed on a compensation based fee.

Will we be able to keep hold of him in the summer if we don't go up?

I'm confident at least that he won't be sold on the cheap whenever the inevitable bid comes in for him.

If he’d put in that kind of performance earlier in the season during the transfer window with less than a year left on his deal do you think he’d still have been here when the window closed ?

If we had played him and he had turned in performances like yesterday then he would have got much better contract offers from elsewhere.

I think the club's played a blinder on this one.

Edit: this view's getting a bit repetitive. Next time read the whole thread before responding 😉

I'm under the impression that for a long time, what the player's agent wanted and what we were prepared to pay were miles apart.

Its an inevitable / good problem to have and the nature of a successful non-premier league academy

If N'diaye / Jebbison or other academy prospects attract interest, it means they playing mens football and looking the part.

Realistically, if these players fulfil there potential the best we can hope for is a couple of years of watching them flourish in red and white (like we saw with Maguire/Lowton/Kyles).

Simply put to keep these players for the long term we need to be a top flight club, Ramsdale is a prime example. I've no doubt he would have stayed if we were still in the Premier League.

If they are successful, all we can do is enjoy them whilst they are here and not sell cheap if they move on.

“Just play him, don’t worry about the risk of him running down his contract.”

Imagine the outcry on here if the boy had turned in a performance like that when his contract was due to expire at the end of the season. 😂

Smart move by the club? I think so. Clearly they knew what a talent he was.

I've told this story a few times but it bears repeating. At Steve Cowens book launch thingy me and a mate approached Chris Wilder. After exchanging a few pleasantries my mate asked CW who the most talented player he'd worked with at United was. Chris said "guess". After going through all the squads under Wilder starting with all the obvious names he laughed and said "I'll tell you". His answer? Ndiaye.

Yet he was only called up to the first team a day after CW quit.

No i did NOT SAY THAT about Lunny . This lad is the best thing to come out of the academy for a very long time (Academy staffs words NOT MINE) HOW LONG DO YOU think it will be before all the prem sharks start to sniff round him? Improving his contract by means of the length of time it applies safe guards our asset and more than likely bumps up his value. So what is there not to like about improving it? If he performs like he did on Saturday on a regular basis it will not be to long before the scouts will be sniffing around. Surely we do not give our talent away any more like we used to, a bigger contract safe guards our up and coming star Just like Wolves did before they loaned us their guy making sure he signed a improved contract before he came. He is now in the shop window playing for us so they make sure any bids that might come in for him takes into account the length of his contract he is on .

I keep seeing that those are comments from the academy but not actually attributed to anyone.
He has a contract, one he’s only just signed which means we’ve got him for 3 years, so they match our valuation or he stays.
If he continues to do well and nails down a first team spot then great, but I don’t see why he would sign a longer deal only a few weeks after the last one. As he’s already proven that he knows his own value only too well.

It really Does beg the question why he never even got close to the first team under wilder than… if he’s so talented and we had literally no creativity.

if wilder could see his talent why not give him the sniff of a chance? Given he signed a contract now it’s not like an agreement couldnt have been reached before… seems like he was holding out for first team opportunities and a manager to play him?
