Brewster, McBurnie, Ndiaye upfront, Hourihane, Gibbs White, Berge in midfield should be creative in a 433.

With the failure to add wide players

could be an opportunity to get this guy more involved - if he’s as good as everyone says he is. There are surely minutes to be had and an opportunity there for the taking.
Is he a wide player though, thought Wilder had got his 3-5-2 formation through every level of the club and presumably using wing-backs who can't cross at every level. I'm sorry, I don't really mean that, I'm just really pissed off.

Off to bed.

P.S have we ever had a transfer deadline day that's delivered what we wanted? Granted Olsen and MGW are great signings but it still feels like it's not going to be enough this season.

I don't think we've made a bad signing, I think all 4 are excellent, we just needed 1 or 2 more. Maybe they can pull a rabbit out of the free agent bin.

Maybe we want more each time than is realistic so are always disappointed

With our lack of wide players surely we may look to our youth players now & offer them the chance to progress into regular first team players?

The U23s don't have any wingers either. The two best U23 wing backs are both out on loan. Maybe Brunt and Ndiaye can get some playing time in attacking roles.

Prince Abdullah saying on Sheff Utd Way that he's received an email from Steven Bettis saying that we're close to sealing a new contract for one of our most promising youngsters. He wouldn't confirm who it is until the deal is 100% done but it's got to be Ndiaye.

Great news if it happens.

Just came on here to post same thing. Must be Ndiaye talking about and shows how much he is rated by saying he's the best signing of the window.

Yeah got be ndiaye or one of the really young ones. All the 23’s lads are on pretty long term deals now I think maybe Gordon isn’t cant remember him signing a new deal but I could’ve missed it.

Hope so. Was very impressed with his skill, maturity and forward play linking with Billy Sharp in the recent cup game.

Sounded from the interview like the Barca player really didn’t fancy it. Not sure I blame him to be fair.

But if this gets a talented youngster into set up - hypothetical just say on a level similar brooks. Then it could be for the best.
An academy player breaking through is never a bad thing. A big ask though to step in a be like brooks ndiaye looks good for the 23’s was probably the pick of bunch last year but brooks was taking the piss at under 23’s level by the time he broke through.

Did brooks have a worse team at u23s though? I feel like in the u23s now, almost every one of them will have a career in football regardless of the level and Ndiaye doesn’t need to do everything. I never saw brooks at u23s so this is a question not a statement

Potentially although rammers was also part of that group. But I was talking in terms of what he was doing to the teams united were playing against and we still play at the same level so that would mean every team would have had to have worse group than the ones ndiaye is playing against and that would seem highly unlikely. If anything brooks doing what he did in a united side that was worse would make his achievements even more impressive.

I guess we’ll just have to see. On a separate note, i do feel for brooks. Feels like his career has stagnated since his first season at Bournemouth. Injuries are a killer

Yeah ndiaye could be a real late bloomer due to his background and be fabulous I’m just not expecting him to step in and be brooks. Yeah all that time out and the surgery going wrong just seems to have stalled him which is a shame because some of the things he did whilst at United were a joy to watch.

That's extremely unlikely.
Lets go through the starting 11:
Dewhurst: had successful loans in non league, went to Carlisle but didn’t get much game time so has dropped back to non league for a season. Also scored for england😉
Seriki: you’re first loan isn’t to a team in belgiums top tier for nothing plus after watching 5 minutes of him you can see he has got quality.
Gordon: knocking on the door and currently seen as back up. Looked good in the cup, especially vs derby
Lopata: brick shithouse. Will be a player
Gomis: unsure right now. Looked good for the u23s but has two quality defenders at the side of him
Boyes: did really well on his first loan. Their manager stated that he will have a really big future and took step up a division in his next loan in non league.
Neil: on loan at non league but unsure on his future. Does everything right but seems a bit clunky (im talking with the ball not weight) has looked good though but unsure.
Brunt: do i have to say much. You don’t get into academys like man city, athletico madrid, offered a trial at real madrid, get a massive release clause slapped on your head at 15 (derby) and have interested from Arsenal and Chelsea (before signing for us) for no reason. Plus has looked quality in a unnatural position in the cup games
Brooks: I actually think has gone massively under the radar. Really kicked on at the end of last season with the u23s and carried that form on with him.
Jebbison: don’t need to say much
Hackford: I’m unsure about hackford. Was seen as the next blade star but never really impressed me, although its like bullying when he plays in the u18s.
Ndiaye: just listen to the princes interview

obviously like in any youth academy, there’ll be those who have been tipped for a bright future but doesn’t happen for one reason or another be that attitude, injuries etc

You could see how much better he was than the rest of the squad when he broke through. Streets ahead of the rest

Perhaps it’s time to teach some of them to play in that position.

it’s a serious point. We are short of wingers and we have an abundance of under 24 players who haven’t gone on loan. See who might suit playing on the wing and train them. Do some coaching. Give it a try.

Ndiaye (obviously). Maybe Andre brooks as he has good ball carrying ability has played centremid and at time left wing back but I could see him working out further forward if given exposure in that type of role he’s not ready for the first team quite yet though either way. Osula aswell has played on the wing before but he’s had a growth spurt and really filled out he now has an in shape mousset type of physique and has started to be deployed as a central striker which seems to suit him but well built players have played on the wing before Mendez-Laing and Traore spring to mind.

Where is osula? I’ve not seen him involved this season

I don’t know I’ve thought the same after he stepped up quite ably to fill jebbison’s absence at the end of last year

I’ve not seen hackford either. Last i saw was when they signed professional contracts at the end of last season
