....would you be looking at what fans are saying about you, ie, not running the channels, not holding up the ball up, not showing for the ball and being totally innocuous during games. Would you think to yourself " I need to show them what i can do" instead of carrying on week after week looking totally lost?
I can't get why he remains so static instead of putting himself about and at least showing a bit of fight and effort.
Everyone would love him to turn it around but sadly i think his ship has sailed.

If I was cannon I'd keep trying to win the headers from long balls launched forward against 6ft4 defenders & I'd keep trying to make runs in behind the defence hoping 1 day one of my team mates will be brave enough to try an early forward pass in behind that is weighted perfectly into me.

But at the same time I would take some inspiration from O'hare and run my bollocks off pressing the defenders, which shows willingness to fight for the shirt and hopefully fans recognise that I'm putting the effort it, rather than waiting for something to happen.... unless I have been told to hold postion and not do that.

Ps, I would also be visibly pissed off and arms up when I make a run and no one tries to play me in, so not only do my team mate's know want it and its on the fans see it (as they don't often see everything thats around the pitch thats off the ball) :).

Clearly other clubs aside from us think there is a player in there.

He can have a good finish on him. Some of his goals have been well taken. But he's also missed badly at the same time.

But like many have said it's the play around that that is difficult. Timing of runs, hold up play, positioning.

I would entertain an offer if it's high enough. Anything above £5m and re invest.

It's startling that in less games he's scored more at Preston and Stoke.

So difficult to judge him too harshly as he is still young and our strikers get so little service. I've often seen him make a run, point where he wants the ball only for the ball not to be played through for him.

The team either need to adapt their game to him or he needs to adapt his game to the team and be less one dimensional.

Compared to McBurnie for example, McBurnie can hold up the ball, score, defend and play mind games with defences.

After having him 18 months our coaching staff should know what type of service he wants and if he's going to be our main man in years to come should be doing that, the same with Hamer, our most creative player and playing him on the wing, manager and coaches are useless, sorry, but it's the truth,

If I was Tom Cannon and I saw what the fans are saying about me, I'd think about replying to the fans - but then nesh out at the last minute and just stand there looking gormless instead.

I think any footballer that looks on social media for coaching advice would be on the entirely wrong path.

Looking for fans views on his performance would also be a red flag.

Listening to and working with coaches and other players to see how he can improve his game and the chances created would be the best route to take.

Cannon needs a nasty streak, a bit like Billy. Make the runs to force the pass, if the ball doesn’t come, tell them.

Cannon is a decent finisher, but he needs to make the moves so players can play him in. He doesn’t need bags of pace, he needs to move ahead of defenders. He's very low on confidence but he needs games to get chances and for players to work with him in games. He needs to run himself into the ground for 60 mins each game and then give One his chance to shine after him

Unfortunately at £5m you’ve got nothing to reinvest, you’re -£5m out of pocket.

You’re right but the difficulty is he’s not quick enough to trouble defenders with those runs, even when the pass comes. How often has he got clear of a defence in behind in his entire time here?

His goal at Burnley a couple of seasons ago showed great movement and finishing. That’s the reason we paid money. But it’s very low percentage stuff, especially for a weaker team (as we are now) to produce regularly.

I’d love us to unlock what he has. But I think the odds are very slim.

So you'd turn down 4m?

I think if Tom Cannon was playing for Birmingham on Saturday, he would have scored a couple. They were down around our goal, crossing and putting balls across the goal line, with no one to finish. We created nothing for over an hour. Not one shot on target.

I am not saying Cannon is perfect or anything like that, but the "service" on Saturday was terrible. The lack of Brooks and Hamer stood out like a sore thumb.

If i were Tom Cannon...what would i do....i would go and watch some Adam Idah video's for clue's how to operate upfront and be a threat..........mind you if i wait till next Sat i will get to see in the flesh.

This goal shows great awareness, positioning and finish, everything you want from a striker but we no longer have the player that set him up which greatly adds to the problem. I think Wilder just hopes that all this may kick in again the next game but who now has the ability to make the pass? Hope and prey may be.....it could happen in the next game or the next game............

Wouldn’t even give what the fans think a seconds thought tbh

What your manager thinks and your team mates think are all that matters, especially if your confidence is low

If Billy had listened to the fans after his first spell here he might never have come back

His agent will be telling him just to keep his head down & crack on as no one else out there is going to be paying what we are!!!

That was an underrated goal. Exactly the sort of movement and passing Scott Hogan fed off when he scored a million for Brentford.

As others have said on here, we’re not peak Brentford, and Hogan looked as lost at other clubs as Cannon does at ours. Plus Cannon has never actually done what Hogan did. He’s a theory of a footballer.

Not sure why people compare him to Brewster. At least he had mitigating circumstances, literally had two serious hamstring injuries that kept him out for the best part of 2 seasons plus.

Also when came back from injury he showed for the ball, put a shift in, when he lost the ball would chase it down to win it back (and won it back too), make runs, compete with defenders even if he wasn't stronger, despite dodgy hammy's still was prepared to whack it at goal from nowhere. Even with long periods out, if he wasn't able to grab goals he still got some assists.

What I saw from Cannon against Birmingham was the opposite of all that. He lost foot races in which he had a head start, he didn't attempt to win the ball back, he couldn't trap the ball when he time to do so, when the ball did go into the box he was no where to be seen (much like last season when people are going on about creating chances).

Not sure I have been this angry with an individual player performance since Lundstram started phoning it in. He was that poor for 60 minutes it felt like we had 10 men, that's how utterly ineffective he was and the stats back it up.

What must he think? He should be thinking he needs review his performance on Saturday and ask himself if he thought that was a good enough for a high level footballer.

The skill of an attacker isn't only his finishing, his timing, his movement, his pace, one of the biggest skills necessary is their positional sense. Being in the right place at the right time. It's not the midfields job to put it on the exact square 6 inches every move. It's their job to put in into good 'areas'. Repeatedly. It's the job of a good attacker to read the game, see the spaces and position themselves in said 'areas' repeatedly. That's where Cannon is falling down. He can't read the game/other players well enough to put himself into the right place at the right time.

Exactly, One came on and read the space in seconds and nearly got himself on the score sheet. He did more in about 2 seconds than Cannon had done in 60 minutes.

I think people need to chill out with Cannon

It wasnt £10 million it was 4/5 million rising to 10 if he wins the balondor

Even if it was it wasnt your money nor mine

We need to leave him be and back him on the pitch

If you Boo him then you are a forking moron of the highest order and probably eat woodchippings for breakfast

Troy Parrot scpred 10 goals in about 100 EFL games now wet spam want him for 25 million

There is a player in Cannon maybe he needs time and confidence
