BREAKING NEWS: Sky Sports understands that Kevin Blackwell has left Sheffield United

According to the O/S he is already planning for next season.

I think we'd better get used to the idea that he isn't going anywhere soon.

We'll see.
We have a season ticket deadline coming up and a potential humiliation at Hillsborough on the horizon.
At the end of the day SUFC as a business does need customers. Driving them away in their thousands doesn't help the business.

No offence but I hate these sort of posts. Mainly because you can never tell whether its just shit-stirring or whether someone is in the know.

Please elaborate.

Yeah me too, but it's the first bit of gossip i've heard without it being on here first, so i got all excited and posted it.

It's the age old heard from the kit man's wife's cousin's sisters' dog, but apparently he was sacked in a meeting this morning.....

I think it would have been announced by now if there was anything to it. Plus any rumours like that always end up on here as quickly as anywhere else.

I'm not questioning the reliability of your source but I can't imagine it's already happened. It would have leaked out in the first 5 mins and be common knowledge by now.

Who ever the guys are who keep buying season tickets are keeping him in a job

This is true. But its a difficult decision to make isnt it. Some people will buy one no matter what through sheer devotion. Others arent strong enough to vote with their feet. I havent renewed mine yet as I'm not bothered about my seat and I don't intend to buy a new one in the summer unless something significant changes.

SACKED or BACKED?

Only one letter difference :(

I renewed my season Ticket, so I guess I'm one of them...But I renewed not to keep Blackie in the Job, I want rid, I renewed because:

1) I want to continue to support my club, even more important to me now that we're skint and shit.
2) I like the view I have from my seat and its near my mates
3) I believe (perhaps naively) that the club will do the right thing

To me it doesn't matter who the manager is, I renewed because I want to keep watching United.

1) Very noble of you. I wish I could justify spending £409 on what I'm seeing but at present I can't.
2) Good reason.
3) Yes you are being naive in that respect. Because they won't.

2-1 in favour of renewing so from your point of view you've done the right thing. Fair play.

1) But I sit on the Kop so its £299, I would not have renewed had it been £301 out of principle :D

3) I know I am, but as a fan you live in the blind, deaf and dumb hope that your club will do the right thing... but they never do

Prices are good on the Kop but there is a reason for that. I have sat on there about 4 or 5 times in my life and its an absolute nightmare to watch the game. Everyone stands up as soon as United mount any sort of attack and the stand isnt steep enough to allow children and adults below 6'4" to see over those in front. It's the most irritating and uncomfortable place to watch a football match. The club would have to pay me to sit there!

I'm led to believe however that well before my time the Kop was fantastic when it was all standing. Many of the older fans say the introduction of all seater stadia completely ruined the atmosphere on there. Shame, because the size of it gives it so much potential.

As for point 3, yes that's true. But some of us are growing bored to the point of tedium with the show we've seen a thousand times. It always has the same ending.

Bloody hell Lou, having to stand up twice a game isn't that much of a chore. Think I only stood up once yesterday, to berate the 4th Official for trying to put us through an extra 4 minutes in the first half (fucking sadist).

Yeah but we get the sun on the Kop...when it shines, which means that as well as standing up when the ball breaks over the halfway line, you also have to shield your eyes from the sun

All that said, there's no better place to be when we score into the kop... particularly for midweek games

I have a vague memory of this word "planning". Ah yes, It was something that we used to in the dim and distant pre Blackwell and Robson days.

And a No. 1 from me too!

Probably will but, like many others, I know at least one who's had a season ticket for over 20 years who won't this time round.
I suspect United have hugely under-estimated the unhappiness of fans and haven't grasped the magnitude of how many aren't going to renew.
This isn't only about those who've bought tickets since the Prem, it's about long-standing supporters just walking away because they see nothing from the club to make them do otherwise.
It's as if the club no longer cares.

This sort of feedback has GOT to be getting back to the club, surely?
