Hutton & Fleck on loan from Rangers - ON? OFF?

It is laughable that half a billion pounds of deals rely on stuffing an image up a telephone line. I presume that the FA have one of these big multi-line fax server jobs, but even so, with that much pressure on the last hour of trading, it does appear archaic and prone to mishaps.

It is equally laughable that all clubs have a two months to sort this out and it gets down to the last five minutes...

"Prone to mishaps" and yet this is the first time I've ever heard of a transfer falling through due to the archaic fax system.
None of the other 91 clubs appear to have had the same problem. Strange isn't it?

Some clubs have had deals processed after the deadline, (Arsenal and Spurs for example), but we know how the strictness of the application of the rules grows the further down the leagues you are. As for the other clubs, no idea how many deals seem to be getting done at the last minute. I suspect this has a lot to do with the lateness of the Slew deal completing with ten minutes to go, rather than any direct incompetance of the sufc officials. We needed the fax machine to work first time. it worked second time. Now its about whether the FA are prepared to accept that and declare it done. (I refer you to the first sentence...)

This reminds me of an old boy when i first started working within an architectural practice about 10 years ago.

He either flatly refused, or simply couldnt grasp, a computer.

If anybody rung up from site needing drawings urgently, he used to take an A0 or A1 drawing, copy it, slice it into A4 pieces and send the contractors a jigsaw via fax - this was apparently common practice at one time.

The FA must be the only office on earth that still insists on operating solely by fax!

Isn't that the best technology we have?

Or do emails and pdf's go by other methods?

:)

You see, years of experience aren't wasted after all...... Even though they are often hidden behind several pints of beer!!

You should behave......I'm up near your place tomorrow and may come and piss on your rhubarb!

Email etc unless using a dial-up connection are sent digitally(broadband). Faxes are sent using the altogether less reliable analogue protocols.

I do understand the technology....but if you read what he said it's still a telephone line that is used.

Ps... newer fax machines do use digital transmission.

I'm in all day, try it if you think you're hard enough!!! Give me a call if you fancy a cuppa. Then you can tweet you met anise man in Huddersfield..

The Chief Scottish Football writer from the Press Association has just tweeted that a decision from the Football League on these deals is now expected tomorrow.

It's tomorrow. Any sign of the decision? Surely our case is at the top of the pile by now or are the FL still marvelling at the magic pictures that come through the fax machine?

Speaking to a Rangers fan this morning and he said that Fleck has got a brilliant left foot shot. Also that Hutton is a very good player.

Hope we can sort these out soon

did we get an answer on these two?

A rumour from today's game (from someone who shall remain nameless :-) ) is that the Rangers duo were seen watching the game....

We shall see !!

Think I heard Radio Sheffield say they were coming after all. Did I dream that?

Still a possibility, Wilson, just said that there is still alot of work going off behind the scenes.

Ooh interesting. During the match they were saying it was definitely off, so I guess it was after?

Evidence has been submitted, but still under review.

After today's performance do we still need them?

We seem to have a glut of goal-scoring midfielders at the moment.

Blackburn had their late deals go to the wire they were approved late after the FL said there was a technical glitch but they approved it.
Their late deal for Slew probably had something to do with our movement for the Scottish deals.
Puzzling as to why the FL are taking so much time to decide on our deal they really need to depend on something other than an outdated fax system. Scan a document and email it will arrive ahead of a fax the world will end for them if they ever suffer from a power outage .

Simples we aren't a Premier League club.

The whole thing is a fecking shambles. If we've tried to send confirmation off before the deadline, and there's technical problems at their end, how is that our fault?

You would have thought that with decent organisation, we wouldn't have been faxing 10 minutes before the deadline of a what is it, 3 month? window.

Looking at the last day in the window perhaps no club has "decent organisation"

Perhaps The Slew deal had to go through to release the cash for the 2 Rangers lads.

Anyway I saw the 2 said players at the Lane today so all may not be lost.
