Hutton & Fleck on loan from Rangers - ON? OFF?

Looking at the last day in the window perhaps no club has "decent organisation"

Perhaps The Slew deal had to go through to release the cash for the 2 Rangers lads.

Anyway I saw the 2 said players at the Lane today so all may not be lost.

I reckon release the wages could be a more accurate description. They wouldn't have been able to do that until the Slew deal was done and completed.

After all the beer you had before kickoff !!!!

I was working on the assumption that these two were targets already and something would have been prepared provisionally in case we were in a position to take it further.

The alternative is, "Shit! Slew's gone. Anybody got any ideas? What was that guy's name again?"

I would have thought that the players were lined up with the thinking that Monty/Quinn/Willo would have gone, but when money became available from Slew & Boggy then the idea was to still get them in. Wilson said the other day he didn't know anything about the Slew deal until very late in the day - so everything was rushed.

I thought i saw them today, walked across the pitch at half time and went up towards the John St boxes? I'm not claiming it was definitley them, but it could of been? did anyone else see?

Think I heard Radio Sheffield say they were coming after all. Did I dream that?
Yes you did. They said that the deals not dead and the club are still working with the FL to try and get a resolution. Might still happen, but might not.

Fair play - I was in the midst of the post match Sharrow traffic surge and it all rather washed over me.

Hmmm.........Swiss, we have a suspect. detective.gif

it sais that there gonna press on today to get answers but he doesnt know when theyll give an answer in the sheffield star

The story in the Star appears to be a rehash of what he said in his post match interview on Saturday rather than anything particularly new. Bet we don't hear anything until Thursday when the loan window opens even though that shouldn't make any difference.

It wont be happening imo. The FA are playing hard ball in a way they always do with lower league clubs, and isn't there a 'no season loans from Scotland' thing? Nope we won't hear any more about this, shame...

I'm with Dunc on this one (). It seems the FA are standing firm (othwerwise we would have them by now) and Wilson's comments on the situation suggest he is resigned to losing them. Shame really, as they would have been good additions to the squad. That said, I would prefer he prioritised money on loan signings for a (pacey) central defender and a (pacey) striker.

Agreed Ollie. It may turn out for the best.

The football gods move in mysterious ways.

Except that it is the Football League not the Football Association that deal with the player registrations

Its off.

Blades unable to secure Rangers duo
Posted on: Tue 06 Sep 2011

United have been thwarted in attempts to sign two players from Glasgow Rangers.

The protracted negotiations have finally concluded with it evident that the Blades will not be able to sign John Fleck and Kyle Hutton.

Director Scott McCabe said: "It has been a very frustrating time for all concerned. Everyone in the football administration team at the club has worked very hard to try and make these transfers happen, but we have had to eventually admit defeat. We had expected the transfers to go through and were surprised when they we were told they had not been completed in time.

"The manager will now move on to other targets, it is the case that transfers can break down for many reasons, so Danny will already have in mind other options to strengthen the our squad."

The Blades have exhausted all avenues regarding this situation and will not able recruit the players on loan or in any other way at this time.

Not good but it could work out for the best in the long run.
As others have said, I suspect that Hutton and Fleck were lined up in the expectation we'd be losing midfielders (Quinn, Monty, Williamson).
DW's insistence that both had been signed as potential strikers doesn't really square with their careers to date.
He now has the chance to sign a genuine striker with pace as a direct replacement for Slew.
I would also like to see him bring in a utility defender as cover for our current total of only 5 fit defenders.
Presumably there are a host of "still unattached" players in the same boat as Beattie, Kruk, McDonald etc whose wage demands may now be fairly flexible.
I'd prefer to see us signing this type of player on permanent deals for our long-term benefit rather than see us grooming players for the likes of Rangers

If only he'd have taken the paperwork for his loan with him (to drop off on the way).............. may just of been a blades player
