David Brooks (back), Ricky Holmes (back) and James Wilson (ankle) miss out but could be back in contention for Tuesday's game at Reading

Blades: Blackman, Baldock, Stevens, Fleck, O'Connell, Basham, Clarke, Sharp, Leonard, Stearman, L Evans.
Subs: Moore, Lundstram, Donaldson, Freeman, Duffy, Lafferty, C Evans.

I suppose Duffy on the bench means we've got an option from the bench otherwise there'd be no game changer on there. Donaldson rarely threatens as a sub and Ched is worthless.

There will be a good reason.
No one would not play a best player.
Remember the managing team are armed with all kinds of data regards work done on the pitch, energy levels and fitness.

It does seem that Duffy is more of a home player than an away player.
At home we have the opposition pinned back to their penalty area and Duffy is the type to unlock the door against a packed defence.
In away matches it’s very unlikely to see Hull park the bus, so the more energetic dynamic tackling Leonard is probably the better choice.

Remember dependent how the game is going we can always bring on Duffy as sub.
Remember Hillsborough ?

Is Brooks not fit enough to be on the bench or dropped? Seems an odd choice.
I can see why having a more combative midfield is a good idea but regardless of whether Duffy is on form or not we play better as a team with him in it.

IF we can win by 27 clear goals, Hull City will be in the bottom three.

By no means impossible....

So another Friday night match, and another TV appearance. Tonight the relatively short trip to Hull. Good result on Tuesday for us, but perhaps not so comfortable towards the end. Still it's another 3 points towards our ultimate aim. Meanwhile Hull have been poor all season, and it's obviously reflected in their League position. They'll be scrapping for it tonight though, and combine that with the off field shenanigans, this match is no 'gimme'.....

Anyway...

Any team news? :)

Fleck certain to return?

Otherwise unchanged?

Brooks and Wilson in late fitness tests...

Jam surely to keep his place?

Well this presents a really good chance to, at least temporarily, return to a play off position. Results recently have been fairly kind, but that's been teams I thought were out of our reach.... See how quick that can change but we can only take care of our own results. Should be a decent Blades following there tonight, so I hope the result is to our taste. Think they'll score but I'm for a 3-1 Blades win with Fleck  scoring.

Safe journey folks....

UTB
Team looks strong tonight.......got a good feeling ....COYRAWW!!!

Duffys best game of the year was at home against Hull. Lots of pressure on Fleck and Leonard to make sure we don't have a 30 yard gap between mf and front 2

It’s basically back to the Norwich away system. No issues with that, even with it seeing Duffy left out, as it worked excellently. Duffy will very likely be back for the Reading game.

Hull are a completely different team to Norwich though (obviously) and we should be trying to attack them from the start. Personally I see dropping Duffy for Leonard as a negative step but Wilder knows better than I do.

We attacked relentlessly in that first half at Norwich, with this system. The absence of Duffy does not prevent us from doing that at Hull this evening. We might miss him, but Wilder will have weighed up the pros and cons and decided this XI gives us the best chance of a result.

disappointed Duffys not playing even though he hasn't been at his best recently. But we have started winning again with him in the team

You've got a short memory if that's what you think
I believe he was just making 'small talk', that was the result anyway whether intended or not.

Clarke and Sharp will need to be at there best tonight won’t get too many chances created early on without Duffy.

sky pundits have been praising us a lot, hope we play well!

Think this will be trickier than we think.

Terrible so far, can’t pass to one of our own players. Hoofing it up and playing to their strengths

Already clearly missing Duffy, there is a big gap between the strikers and midfield.

Should not be getting dropped so often.

Totally London and Leonard's shooting isnt great either. Just don' understand how Duffy isn' t in the team

Very Sloppy, Bash, Evans, Len, giving the ball away... Hull will take opportunity if we keep giving it away.

Much prefer Fleck more central out of the game too much on the left and no Duffs leaves a massive gap to the front 2

Midfield arent controlling the game as they usually do, can't keep hold of the ball and no connection with the strikers, misplaced passes, no rhythm at the minute, and the defence is shaky.
