Yes, Mick Jones. Didnt realise the opponents were Swansea. Will send this photo to a mate who supports Swansea. The keeper is Noel Dwyer whose mistake gifted Preston a goal in the 1964 FA Cup semi![]()
Mick Jones? Against Swansea, FA Cup 4th round, 1964
Stoke's striker is the late John Ritchie who played for Wendy. He scored Stoke's first in their 3-2 win. He scored the only goal in the Sheffield derby at the Lane in Sept 1967 (a lot of fighting before the match)![]()
John Hope and Eddie Colquhoun vs Stoke, 1971
Think it was the 3-1 win against Oxford in Sept 1979 or possibly the 1-0 win in Aug 1980![]()
No idea.
Highlights of the match was shown on Sportsnight that night. My mum would let me watch the programme and I have never got to see the goals in that match. We lost 2-1. Martin Chivers and Jimmy Pearce scored for Spurs. Ted Hemsley got our equaliser![]()
League Cup 3rd round at White Hart Lane, October 1970
Loved going there after matches, getting autographs, gawping at players and getting a pat on the head by any of the players![]()

Who designed it? Looked a monstrosity even back then. Why wasn't it built further back to allow more room behind john street?
Me mam never lived it down; still got the beret.View attachment 15702
"Sheffield United players in the 1970s were lucky enough to get Renault 5 GTLs from G.T. Cars of Suffolk Road, Sheffield; with optional extra French bonnet mascot."
So we could move the John Street stand further forward?
Then rebuild the Kop and BL stand so it all fits together?
Either snort less or cut it a bit more.

Won 2-1. Keith Solomon was our sub keeper. He died at training a few weeks later
not all at once obviously.
the john street and kop were nothing more than sheds then, some would argue to kop still is.
It's a post promotion celebration, possibly after going up in 1989. If not, the year after. We got promoted a lot once upon a time.
